Well… Christmas in Granite Falls took an unexpected emotional turn.🥰😱🤭🤦🏾♀️😆

After getting engaged, packing up the baby, and heading out on a cozy family vacation, I honestly thought this trip was just going to be matching pajamas, fireplaces, and cute holiday screenshots.
The family dynamics are starting to reveal themselves in ways I did NOT expect.
First of all, I finally got a chance to really pay attention to Charli’s relationships with Cliff’s children, and the differences are interesting. The two older boys warmed up to her surprisingly quickly. Their relationship bars are actually pretty solid, and they seem comfortable around her. Sebastian, the youngest boy, still barely knows her, so their relationship is understandably pretty low.
From the very beginning, something felt…off.
She was the only one disengaged during family dinner. While everyone else was talking and interacting, Dallas sat on her phone looking emotionally checked out. Her relationship with Charli remained noticeably lower than everyone else’s, and honestly, I started wondering if this blended family situation was affecting her more than anyone realized.
Then came the twist I NEVER saw coming.
Out of nowhere, Dallas asked Cliff if she could move in with them.
At first, I almost said no.
Not because I didn’t want her there, but because the timing felt huge. Cliff and Charli are newly engaged, there’s a new baby in the family, emotions are already complicated, and adding another major transition into the mix felt risky.
But then I started thinking…
What if this wasn’t really about needing a place to stay?
What if Dallas was quietly asking:
“Do I still belong here?”
And honestly? That single decision may have changed the entire emotional direction of this family.
Because almost immediately after moving in, Dallas started autonomously caring for Montgomery.
Holding him. Feeding him. Bathing him. Carrying him around the cabin. Sitting with him by the Christmas tree.
And… the screenshots absolutely melted me.
The same girl who seemed distant and emotionally guarded suddenly became incredibly nurturing with her baby brother. Montgomery lights up around her, and the more I watched them interact, the more it stopped feeling like jealousy and started feeling like adjustment.
Then I checked Dallas’ traits for the very first time.
~~~~~~~~~~Goofball. Art Lover. Jealous.~~~~~~~
And suddenly EVERYTHING made sense.
Not “jealous” in a villain way.
More like: sensitive to change, fearful of losing closeness, struggling to figure out where she fits in this new family dynamic.
Now I’m honestly starting to think Montgomery may become the emotional glue holding this family together.
Meanwhile Charli is walking around Granite Falls looking like a glamorous romance novel stepmother in all black leather while trying to keep this beautifully chaotic blended family afloat. 😂
The original challenge was supposed to be about a quiet romance writer falling in love through a book club.
Instead, somehow we ended up here:
* Christmas cabin emotions
* and a toddler healing relationships one bath at a time.🥰🤗🥰🤗🥰
And honestly? Y’all…I’m obsessed. 🤭 And I hate say “obsessed.”
