senegal used to be brought along on most of the trips france made around the empire so most every colony at least knows of him. this is meant to be akin to how the senegalese troops would be dragged everywhere in the world to protect french interests among Other things. while morocco would sometimes also be compelled to come along (for radically different purposes), hers were more restricted to bigger conflicts & thus much less frequent.

they meet properly when france makes a stop in morocco around the 1910s-ish to check up on her (& sahara, who’s staying with her at the time, but that’s irrelevant) and they only really talk when france isn’t present—partially so they can insult him without having to worry about repercussions (senegal especially).

he’s the only real positive connection she has for the time being, seeing as the only people she has regular contact with are french, a bunch of francophiles, and sahara who keeps himself locked up whenever he’s at her place and isn’t even a french colony.

they hit it off quite well, if a little distrustfully, all things considered. some years later, senegal would start asking if he could station in morocco rather than his own land when france deigns to stay in algeria for longer than two weeks. morocco likes his company and sometimes it means france’ll skip over her that time around, which is a major win-win to her.

france comes to notice senegal’s developing crush on her as time goes on. being the pos he is, he does force senegal to come face-to-face with it and holds it over his head. he’s not happy about it if that isn’t very obvious (see: madonna–whore complex, his own entitlement, & more). things happen with both of them here i will omit for now

morocco ends up reciprocating it obviously and they come to actually breach the topic during wwii, while they’re both on the vichy side. they don’t get to run away together like senegal wants but they defect together there to the free french side, which is sorta similar.
