Introducing Koh Thai - a Sims 3 Thailand inspired world
Introducing Koh Thai WIP
After 4 months of quietly creating, I've finally worked up the courage to post about my current work in progress and first ever custom world, Koh Thai!
After moving from the sims 4 back to the sims 3, I've fallen back in love with the open worlds of TS3, and all the customisation opportunities offered by the create a world tool. The amazing work of other custom world creators, especially Nilxis and Zach Bundy has really inspired me to have a go at committing to my own creation, and further exploring cultures which have not yet been represented by the Sims officially, or custom world creators. Following my trip to Thailand, I have been desperate to explore possible storylines with my sims in within a Thai world, and after being unable to find any Thai inspired custom worlds online, I thought I would contribute my own attempt.
Consisting of two inhabited islands, one larger with a more local, traditional and wealthy-resort focus, and the other smaller with a more party backpacker and criminal focus, plus a series of smaller uninhabited islands for your sims to explore, I hope that Koh Thai has a little bit of something for everyone...
"Escape to the sun-drenched shores of Koh Thai, a breathtaking archipelago where ancient traditions meet modern luxury. Nestled between towering limestone cliffs and vibrant coral reefs, this island paradise offers a lifestyle for every Sim. Will you find serenity in a traditional teak stilt house perched over the water, or seek fortune managing a high-end beach resort? From the bustling night markets of the main pier to the hidden grottos waiting to be discovered by boat, Koh Thai is more than a destination; it’s a new way to live."
Koh Thai currently consists of 156 lots, 35 residential, with every community lot type including a variety of beaches and eating spaces for your sims to live their best lives. The world has been built with all expansion packs and stuff packs (excluding Katy Perry Sweet treats) installed, and the only CC used is the Around the Sims 3 Southeast Asia squat toilets available here: Around the Sims 3 | Custom Content Downloads | South-East Asia Toilets. I have tried to limit store content as much as I felt possible, a full list of the required store content will be included with the final download.
There is still a fair bit of work to do, with many lots still to be completed, along with placement of foliage and terrain painting. Some lots are renovated EA lots, but most are completely custom. I would love to add custom lighting and water to give the world a truly Thai tropical feel. I have already completed some households, and intend to release the world fully populated, routed and play-tested.
I just wanted to make a post to introduce people to my first ever custom world, which I'm getting increasingly excited to complete, and share some screenshots of my creation <3
