obligatory "watsonian discussion of a broader doylistic issue" disclaimer here, but i keep thinking about how awful asgore is and it keeps resulting in me coming to see the sympathetic side of flowery more. it really does seem upon replaying the chapter that asgore is content enough with the flower friends when they're inanimate, but as soon as they start asking things of him and acting like people, he suddenly sees them as imposing on him and what he wants to do. it's ironic, in a sense, because the flowers have so little in the way of wants that don't concern asgore as is. it makes it all the worse when asgore rebukes them at the end of the chapter, only deciding to take care of them again for his own sake. and it reflects poorly on his treatment of the other lightners in his life; dess, who he seems to only preoccupy himself with for his own sake, and who he does not even give the honor of naming in discussing his role in her past; and toriel, who he cannot identify as someone he has treated in a misogynistic manner, as someone he has treated with nothing but entitlement.
Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.
One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.
And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.

"that character can't be trans fem because we need rep for boys who are feminine" and "these characters can't be gay because we need rep for healthy male friendship" are the same mindset of hyperfocusing on fan response instead of actual text. where are all the trans fem characters with detailed self-acceptance arcs??? where are all the gay couples with focused plot build-up, especially in genres considered "masculine" like action??? in addition to prioritizing cishet sensibilities with a thin progressive veil, it's just a nonsensical thing to say because the representation being defended is more common than the representation being derided as "actually following gender roles tbh."
people are being so weird about susie this chapter, like wdym i see people unironically claim she's "being a dick" to kris. i think you need to replay the festival section without your jealousy angst goggles on because both susie and noelle are engaging with kris and being pretty friendly and normal. the only times they go off and do their own romantic thing are when you tell them they should do the ferris wheel and when kris is literally passed out. susie even has several moments and some the player can initiate if you wanna be a dick where she'll be oblivious and focus on her friendship with kris more than noelle. acting like they were somehow ignoring and excluding kris is just wrong.
and about the end of the chapter, i dont see why kris would interpret susie wanting to bring in noelle as some friendship betrayal "you're bringing your girlfriend into our thing" type beat. noelle has literally been in the dark world before, kris is also her friend, and susie wants to tell her because she's staying true to what she said to ralsei. she wants to tell noelle the whole truth because it's a big part of her life! susie also pairs this by saying its getting serious and they cant just treat it as their fun adventure thing anymore. but no she only wants to have a dark world date with her and make kris feel bad i guess.

obsessed with kris using things the player can't see to communicate with other characters. drawing on the window in the diner. 80% as much honey on toast as usual. silly faces and nodding/shaking their head. changing the tone of what we make them say to make it clear that they mean it differently. i love that it's shown time and time again that kris ISN'T apathetic about anything. kris wants friends. kris has boundaries and wants mom to know that what she did made them feel bad. kris wants the people in their life to be happy and kris wants affection. i love kris deltarune

With the release of the new chapter there has been an increase in people drawing kris white and its getting weird... like why do I keep seeing white kris??????

I think the date scene is just an artifact of how undertale and deltarune don't treat the flirting mechanic (Not sure if thats the right word) as a serious thing, like us going on a date with papyrus, us going on a date with alphys, flirting with enemies ect. It exists for humour and that's usually it. The issue is that the second it starts intersecting with plot it gets weird because you actually start considering who these characters are as people, which is why the second the flirting gets serious the plot finds a reason to discard it (papyrus rejecting you, alphys calling it a pity fate and actually being into undyne, susie and ralsei saying kris flirts with everyone), basically to signal to the audiance that this isnt to be taken seriously
I'm not defending this writing quirk as I do get the discomfort, I'm just taking note of it
if it had been pink trying to turn kris down and then getting mad when susie and ralsei told her kris flirts with everyone maybe i would have liked the joke more, and i didn't mind her giving them a forehead kiss either, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth that really? This is what their using her for?
