We're Remembering Sgt. Jessica L. Cawvey, who made the ultimate sacrifice on October 6, 2004, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The was just 21, and the mother of a daughter.
Jessica died from wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq, while serving with the 1544th Transportation Company of the Illinois Army National Guard.
Described as an outstanding soldier with an infectious laugh, she volunteered for dangerous missions, protected her team, and always put others first.
Posthumously promoted from Specialist to Sergeant, her legacy of courage and selflessness endures.
