Chaotic regret

Terra wasn’t sure how to continue with the conversation, the man before him seemed nice, but Terra couldn’t continue a conversation with someone who didn’t seem to be able to continue one back. Maybe he would try appealing to something the young man enjoyed.

"Well, my experience is that the ones that can’t control their own lives, usually find excuses or try to get led by something else. It is just my experience, you may prove me wrong if you want to." He defends his views, as he had a bad relationship with any sort of belief system. He was a proud atheist himself, and would remain so till the day he died, then he could see if he was wrong or not. "I’m just tired of people blaming something else for their own shortcomings, and not take responsibility themselves."

At the threat he just nods, as he didn’t really want to get into trouble either. He had a feeling some of the teachers already saw him as a scary guy because he didn’t say much. The longest conversation he had had was with one of his animation teacher, and it had been over a chat about how he could improve his animations. 

 ”There’s nothing wrong with admitting things are out of your control.  You cannot predict nor make your own path completely.  We are all led in one way or another.  You could say I chose this class but I was limited in options thus my path was limited in directions- everything has a cause and explanation through the ways of the divine and the less common beliefs.”

"So you’re claiming to be unreliable or that this description is unreliable?"  Saix stared up at the taller male with an annoyed look and wondered how the man lived on this plane of existence with his demeanor.  Hadn’t someone knocked some backbone into him?  He wasn’t even putting up a fight, it was pathetic.  The blue-haired male grabbed the book back and flipped through the pages, "You could be a cusp, or you could be more reliant on your rising sign instead of your birth-date, which is common for personalities." Then Saix couldn’t contain his inner monologue anymore and he made a face.

"And I understand your reasons, I just don't want anyone else controlling anything with my life. I do what I want with what I have. It isn't much I can do, but I want to do what I can, being limited teaches you that." He looks down at the book again, before he explains. "I meant that I can be unreliable yes, it is a bad habit I am trying to fix. But I don't think much of the other things fits me."

He looks really curious as the other continues. "A cusp? what would that mean? And what is a rising sign?" He was curious about these things, he just didn't believe them. For all he knew he could use it for something in the future, he did animate stuff so.

 ”Ah yes, the benefits of independent study sessions.  I’ve never been able to take them due to all my classes requiring group lectures or lab times.”  Vexen rubbed his chin before letting loose a throaty cackle, “Beggars can’t be choosers I suppose.  I did dig my own grave.” 

To him Vincent had now become a mere sample on a petri dish and he couldn’t wait to find out more about his condition, “How interesting! Tell me, do you have a reversed sleep schedule then? I’m sure the teachers had to accommodate for this - or do you have late classes?”  Vexen had hundreds of questions he wanted to ask him but he knew that it would seem rude if he asked the other to step out with him into the sun to test this allergy.  When he mentioned he had gotten a reputation as a vampire Vexen did something that would stun most people as he reached into his pocket and pulled on one latex glove.  The snap of the glove was so subdued it would hint that the blond was well-adapted at masking it for his patient’s anxiety.  Then he turned on Vincent and used two gloved-covered fingers to open his mouth as he peered inside, “I don’t see any abnormal canine teeth nor a lack of molars which would hint at a diet consisting of meat instead of a omnivorous diet that requires chewing.”  

"Ah, no. I don't get any special treatment for it. All I asked for is that I am excused for any day that has too bright sun and I can't find shadows to hide in I guess. But I do tend to change my schedual around when I'm not in school." He was about to explain more, when he noticed that the other was getting latex gloves on, and he fought all instinct to back away. Then he opened his mouth and he tried to keep from chuckling over it. It seemed he had caught the other's interest.

Then he was let lose, and smiles. "Well, according to the legends, the vampires sprouts fangs as they come upon their prey, right? So it usually never helps pointing my lack of fangs out to people." He also was at risk for sexual advances from Goth girls, something that scared him more than any horror movie he had ever seen.

Vincent seemed to understand his need for solitude, likely even better than Marluxia himself did. It was a quiet night, the cloud coverage casting shadow over most of the campus, a hush falling with it. It seemed the perfect night to take a walk alone with one’s thoughts, though he did appreciate the quiet company of Vincent. 

"If you do not mind," he said quietly, waving his hand in a gesture to indicate accompanying him. "I would like to see a little more of this area."

He was about to ask what he meant with if he minded, but then he understood that the other was as kindly as possibly asking him to tag along. "No problem at all, but I don't really know much about the place if you wanted a tour with narration."

The blonde held a confused look on his face as he heard the request. He knew that a lot of people couldn’t stand a bright light early in the morning so he instantly nodded and agreed. “Yeah, its no problem. Everyone has their own thing, and I can deal with that.” He made it obvious that he wanted him to feel okay where he was. Zidane didn’t want to lose another roommate. He laughed a bit. “We could always get some tinted sheets for the glass. Whatever works for you.” 

He felt a little honored to hear the praise from the other. It was far from the truth though, he liked music, but had never really mastered any of it himself. And his long hair was more to have something to hide behind. He had had short hair when he was younger, but he had in the end felt to awkward being around people and having to meet their gazes. "I will unpack right away, I just needed to be sure that this was my side." He gives a weak smile to the other. He really didn't have much to unpack, some books to have in his shelf, and some of his favorite movies. His computer and a few family pictures. His clothes would remain under the bed to not take too much space.

"It seems like we are family Vincent, that was your name right?" She glanced back down at the paper as she wiped her eyes. Til’s only thoughts were about meeting her real mother, their real mother. She had so many questions, so many memories to tell, and answers to why her mother left her father. 

As Garnet thought about it she looked up at him with puffy eyes. “You are older then me, but my moth- our mother was with my father first.” She held her head frustrated. “Wow, this is really bad. I’m sorry about all of this, I just really wanted to meet you. I hope this wasn’t any trouble for you to get here. Thank you so much for meeting me.” 

"I know..." He starts, as he reaches over and pats her head. It seemed she had inherited their mother's height and not his at least. "I mean... I know my mother was with your father first. Or, I didn't know it was your father. But I knew she was together with someone for a while before my father. But they never told me there was a child involved." He tries his best to force on a smile. If there was one thing he didn't really do, it was smiling, but for some special occations it was ok.

"Well, I guess that means I owe you a lot of years worth of big brothering, right?" He was shocked over all this of course, but even with his negative aura, he was one to find positive parts of things he knew he had to deal with, and this was a thing that was easy to turn into a positive if she wanted to as well.

 ”That sounds like a good plan. And here I was thinking you were lazy.  I didn’t know that classes allowed such a luxury of a day off, mine are packed solid. But I suppose that is the woe of being a double-major.”  He shook his head before a few things clicked into place, “You don’t go out during the day a lot, do you have a skin allergy? Pardon if I offend you but as a medical student the topic fascinates me.  You skin does have a rather pale tint.”

As he sat down at one of the front rows of chairs he looked over at him, “I’m in the student center, I handle a lot of the paperwork for car permits and other things. I’m the person who gets to handle people who don’t know how to write their name on the student pass sheets for another ID, it’s a sad job but pays well.”  

"I don't think most classes allows it, but since the computer work takes a lot of time on your own, you are allowed to do more self study. The classes can be slow, but they also tend to turn into self study when you have gotten told what to do. The teachers will be on school for the days you are off too, in case you need guidance with your work." He pulls the scarf better up around his neck, as he looks down. "I'm not offended, but I have a bad skin allergy. It isn't that bad that I can't go out during the day, but it hurts a lot, so I tend to move about when the sun is hidden, or just do what I need during night."

He gives a chuckle. "I also gained a reputation for being a vampire since kindergarten, so the other kids tended to keep away. Something that is the reason I am a social outcast even as a young adult." 

 ”Looking for outside guidance isn’t for the weak.  Based on your idiotic habit of sleeping in the back of classes and trying to escape conversations I’d say you need some fucking guidance and fast.”  Nothing made Saix more angry than people insulting his religious beliefs.  There was nothing wrong with asking the Goddess for help when he needed someone.

"Feels almost like snow," he mused, the cold biting into his skin once more. He had always found it both painful and exhilarating, always feeling slightly more alive in the bitter cold. "Perhaps it will today."

"I doubt it, but I am not much for observing rules that have no basis in reason." He was no more likely to abuse the instruments now than in the daytime, and felt most comfortable playing at night when few were around to hear. "I prefer playing in solitude anyway."

At the solitude part, Vincent nods understanding, as he was certainly the come to man on solitude. A good day for him was if he could talk to least amount of people, get school done, go to his room, sit in silence in a dark cozy corner with his computer and just don't deal with anything else than school work and watching horror movies. 

Terra didn’t know exactly what to do. Most of his life he had been able to strike up interesting conversations with people through any sort of opening. People usually did that, even if they didn’t know they were doing it, hundreds of openings in a small collection of sentences. That was the art of getting what you wanted; finding the right opening out of hundreds of them.

But for Vincent, he seemed to be giving him nothing, and with nothing to work on Terra wasn’t sure how he could continue this conversation. The man seemed interesting, Graphic Design wasn’t for someone with a plain outlook on life, but…wait, that was it, working to the young mans strength, talking about something he must have been passionate about, that was how he could continue the conversation going without short words.

A hard mental beating of himself, as he slowly understood just how demented he must have sounded. What was wrong with him?! He should at least be able to lead a conversation! He really wanted to be normal! "I... I just can't deal with the sun, so a work where I don't have to see it much to live a normal life is what I mean..." 

I’m so sorry

Why?

"Marluxia," he responded. He swept his hair off his neck and stood, his fingers slowly leaving the surface of the keys. He may have to play another night - he was not much for an audience, as the piano had always felt like it must be kept secret. That was likely owed much to how he had learned it in the first place. But no matter.

Silence covers the room, as he pretended the music was still there a little, and as he decides he had heard enough of it, he lets the tune go before he brings his attention to the other again. "I'm just getting some air." He points out of the window. "Heard you from outside."

 ”A libra hm?”  

He watched the other with a mild smirk, “You think that’s going to limit my expectations of you? Please.”  His arms crossed and gold eyes took in the other fully, he was very tall…had a thing for leather and very feminine-looking.  It was like a gothic version of Axel.  He started laughing to himself. 

Vincent gives a sigh, as he had hoped saying he wasn't even supposed to be there would let him off the hook. But it seemed the other had decided that he would have him as his partner right now, no matter what. At the laughter, he started to understand that the other was probably finding him quite interesting.

Moments passed until the girl could see someone who had bee standing around for awhile. “Maybe that’s him" She walked over slowly just in case of a quick turn away. “Excuse me sir? Are you Vincent?"

"My, name’s Garnet Til Alexandros and I was sent to meet you by my uncle Collin. It amazing that we were so close, huh?" She continued talking even though she wasn’t completely sure it was him. Some how she knew it was and she could help herself from speaking her mind. “I think we have a lot to talk about if you don’t mind answering some questions about your mother." She held her phone in her hand of a picture of a woman that is suppose to be her mother from her uncle’s words. 

He looks at the other a little longer before he answers anything. "I'm Vincent." He had thought it might have been someone he knew from before that was calling him out, but this wasn't anyone he could remember talking to before. He might have seen her at school in passing, but he usually didn't look that much at people.

Then she holds her phone up, and he looks confused at the picture she showed her. It was an older picture, probably 10 years old or something, but that did look suspiciously like his mother. He brings his hand into his pocket, and soon fished out a old phone he had been forced by his mother to bring. He had never really needed a phone, since he didn't get many friends, but his parents had wanted to be able to get in contact with him.
