Congratulations to the remaining schools of the Triwizard Tournament for completing our first competition!

In your box, you receive a slip of paper containing the following ingredients:

In order to prepare for the third and final task, you will be put into the forbidden forest to gather the ingredients for a specific potion before time runs out.

YOUR TASK

Within your school, one witch or wizard is chosen to be in charge of a map. Surrounding the forbidden forest is a force field, meaning no one is able to get in or out for one (1) hour. The chosen teammate is standing outside the force field along with a marauder’s map and a two way mirror. Your job is to guide the rest of your school to each ingredient using the map. You will encounter creatures such as gnomes, chizpurfles, etc, so make sure you start researching how to distract them.

RULES + GIDELINES

This task is mandatory, which means you will receive 0 points if you do not submit anything at all. It is better to submit something than nothing at all. However, if you completed the practice challenge, and have yet to use it, you can use that to substitute.

As of now, the task 2 deadline is September 6th (due date may change) You may ask for feedback, but no scores will be revealed

This challenge requires RP as an entire School. The RP will take place on your Hangouts School chat. If you do not have Hangouts, you may RP individually on tumblr or ask your teammates. Your administrator (Viv, Rose, Rachel) will be controlling the RP. Due to our busy schedules, RPs may be delayed, meaning you may get an extension.

▪ If you are given a task such as casting a Patronus, you may not immediately shout “Expecto Patronum”. Keep in mind you are a student and you are not invincible. The admin will be controlling the RP.

▪ Discuss a good time when everyone is free to RP. You may not RP without the admin. 

▪ If you write anything that did not happen in the RP, you will lose points for your School.

i don’t really dream anymore (call it a professional hazard) but when i was young i kept having dreams about a white gyrfalcon flying through a rain of arrows. there’s yelling in the background, something that sounds like a battle. i think it might have been the remnants of an old memory – people from my mother’s clan often retain random memories of ancestors

both seem equally alright to me. living forever would be ideal for a historian, though dying is cool too, i have stuff to do then; and i also don’t mind being alone. ‘but who will find your bones before you decay, horuś?’ honestly i don’t mind becoming worm food

lastly there is ‘blood purity’, which is a concept i find slightly absurd. i think it’s foolish to presume that just because your ancestry is filled with wizards, you’re better than someone who came from a muggle family. to me it just seems like an excuse for you to slack off and feel good about it, because you’re a ‘natural’ where as, someone who isn’t pureblooded isn’t?? it’s illogical. blood shouldn’t matter like that. although i think pureblood ideology has somewhat diminished in our current era, it still exists and i think it definitely impacts halfblood and muggleborn students. i am a pureblood, but i stand in solidarity with their struggles. living as an asian person in northern europe, i can relate to a lot of their feelings

i used to dream because i didn’t begin my lessons in necromancy until i was seven. prior to that i was a regular boy

Do you truly think that one should avoid their duties in such a way? Or do you think that the way one is raised influences such thoughts on the subject? I am curious to hear your thoughts. I admit, blood purity is not something I think of often, though I agree with everything you say. Some of the strongest magic folk I know are Muggleborn. Still, I do think there is a divide that exists both ways. I have only been exposed to a few purely non-wizard things in my life, and they have all been exciting, fun, and, ultimately, forbidden to me by my pureblood father. Will the blood purity nonsense ever stop until magic doesn’t become a secret? It is important to learn more both ways so that we can become an actual, sustainable society.

not in particular! souls are not tied down by geography. however, it does depend on the willingness to cooperate. my interest in archaeology is largely because of my parents – my father is a geographer, as i have mentioned, and my mother was a historian. she left a huge library when she passed, and as a child i read all of her books and notes, and felt deeply inspired by what she had done. so i’ve decided to follow in my parents footsteps and study something similar

that’s what i thought. since we live in the same world, we’ll inevitably affect one another. i don’t think there has been a concerted effort to teach muggle studies to students – from what i understand, in most schools it is an elective course, which makes it possible for blood purists to just ignore the class if they don’t want to take it

It is an elective course at most schools, from what I know, and not considered a serious class in the wizarding world. I know that serious students at my school have been instructed not to do it by their parents. There needs to be a greater emphasis made by someone, but there seems to be little way to do this.

i definitely feel like muggle studies has that connotation as well. i think the only way for us to change the system, would be perhaps to actually start working in the government, and proposing policy changes in education, muggle relations, and the suchlike. i would be willing to fight for this cause, though i am unfortunately neither charming nor patient enough for politics

That is true, and to do it across the globe would be near impossible. Perhaps your purpose is archaeology, and you can fight for this cause through that; having influence in one sphere often translates to power in others. If you discover something great, your name could become known, and you could be an advocate for it, or make connections with those who could make those policy changes. Still, change can be made through a cultural shift as well as through policy.

that’s certainly possible. after all, famous people have a larger weight behind their words than more unknown people. it’s hard to affect any sort of widespread change but at least this way your opinions can reach more people

Very true, although I suppose you’re correct about certain jobs not having much widespread change. But if there are a few ways to approach this, perhaps having people in different niche jobs around the world all speak for the same thing in a similar way can indoctrinate a generation to think differently.

i’m lucky, necromancy doesn’t really interfere with what i do in life. in fact, it’d probably be helpful, considering that i’m hoping to be an archaeologist in the future

he’s a little intense. there’s often too much going on with him – the muggle stuff, his own work in world geography, raising two kids as a single father – but i wouldn’t have it any other way. i think it has made me a more appreciative and well-educated person. i was surprised to learn on the night of the selection that one of the beauxbatons students was seemingly unaware of the muggle government of the soviet union. seems like a pretty important thing to learn about regardless of whether you’re a muggle or a wizard. we definitely need to educate wizards on at least the basics of muggle history

then there is ‘blood’ duty, where you are obligated to perhaps, continue a family business, or something of that sort. i think if you truly don’t want to do it then blood doesn’t matter, since everyone should have freedom of choice, but in my case i’m compelled by nature although i don’t hate what’s waiting for me

lastly there is ‘blood purity’, which is a concept i find slightly absurd. i think it’s foolish to presume that just because your ancestry is filled with wizards, you’re better than someone who came from a muggle family. to me it just seems like an excuse for you to slack off and feel good about it, because you’re a ‘natural’ where as, someone who isn’t pureblooded isn’t?? it’s illogical. blood shouldn’t matter like that. although i think pureblood ideology has somewhat diminished in our current era, it still exists and i think it definitely impacts halfblood and muggleborn students. i am a pureblood, but i stand in solidarity with their struggles. living as an asian person in northern europe, i can relate to a lot of their feelings
