âInvestigate, huh.. You got it.â Though he didnât have his sword and had no idea where it was. Just as he was about to mention it, Hana spoke up. âEh? Your command seals are gone?!â He stared at his master, eyes wide with shock. âCome to think of.. I donât really feel a connection to you anymore.. My weapon is missing too but I just figured someone stole it..â He didnât feel drained but he certainly felt like he wasnât a servant anymore. He wasnât tied to Hana nor did he feel any mana.
âI donât⌠feel any mana either..! Whatâs this mean, Master? Itâs like Iâm just a normal human again!â This was too bizarre. Like heâd just gotten a new lease on life. Whatâs more is that he hadnât even sensed it or figured it out before hand. What a failure of a servant he was. Though he guessed he couldnât be considered a servant if all his powers were gone.Â
He looked around at their surroundings and noticed a person walking on the ground. âHey, thereâs someone down there. Letâs try askinâ them what they know.â Mandricardo motioned for Hana to follow him and he moved briskly down the stairs to the ground level where a middle aged man stood in waiting. âHey, wanna ask ya a few questions.â
âWell, judging by your appearances Iâd say you guys are new arrivals.â
âArrivals? Whaddya mean?â
âThe deities here are always up to no good. Theyâve been pulling in a lot more people lately.â
âYeah, they pull people from other worlds. Itâs not uncommon here.â
Mandricardo exchanged a puzzled look with Hana before looking back at the stranger. âWhat do they want? Is there a way of gettinâ in contact with them?â In response the other male rubbed his chin. âWell.. I donât think youâd be able to have a full on conversation but you can send them requests at their shrine. Thatâs about all I know though. Good luck to you.â Mandricardo thanked the man and turned to Hana, arms crossed over his chest. âGuess that makes our next destination a bit easier, yeah?â
Panic shot through her as he mentioned not feeling a connection to her anymore. Did that mean he was going to disappear on her? Was she going to be left here by herself? Thankfully, that was sort of stamped out by the following admission that it was like he was a normal human again. âI...I have no idea,â she managed to stammer out.Â
As far as she knew, things like this didnât just happen. âYou donât feel like youâre going to disappear, do you?â None of this made any sense. Though she supposed if he did fade, heâd probably just go back to Chaldea..but that still meant sheâd be here, alone. She didnât want to think of that right now.Â
As soon as he pointed out a passerby, she nodded, hurrying after him. The manâs words...honestly didnât explain much. But deities pulling people from other worlds? She pinched the bridge of her nose, almost feeling a headache threatening to develop. âThis sounds like the plot of a light novel..â she mumbled to herself. Especially the part about requests.
But what was the point of pulling them here? She almost questioned how they were able to remove her Command Seals but..that was probably childâs play for a deity. âWhere can we find the shrine?â she asked the man. âIs it far?â
âHmm...Itâs a bit of a walk. Itâd probably be better if you took the bus, since it stops there,â he answered. âItâs in the mountains after all.âÂ
Not wanting to keep the man anymore, she thanked him as well, watching him walk away as she tried to think. So the shrine was in the mountains, and it was a bit of a walk. It was a start, at the very least. At Mandricardoâs question, she nodded in affirmation. It made the most sense, after all.Â
âYup. Sounds like we need to get to that shrine,â she agreed, smiling in spite of the situation. âHonestly, thisâll probably be the easiest mission weâve ever had but Iâll be in your care all the same.âÂ
