After making a slight complaining post that was not very serious, I realized how uninviting the BNHA fandom is. I haven’t been on Tumblr very long so I can’t account for other ones but it’s disgusting to me how horrible people act about characters’ sexuality.

Making jokes about a character definitely being gay is to be expected. But from the post I made, I saw people were actually being harassed if they headcanon characters as something different. Because Horikoshi is an idiot, probably all of the characters we talk about will never be confirmed. So we’re allowed to have a little fun with it

Like for me, I hc Ochako and Izuku as bi, and then Kirishima, Shoto, and Tsuyu as gay. Even if I see the characters this way do I want to force other people to think that? No. I just want to say stuff like “x character is gay” or “bi rights” without people thinking I mean harm to them if I share a different opinion. What I’m trying to say is that’s it’s ridiculous that we as a community can’t just make light jokes about a character’s unconfirmed sexuality because of the legitimate assholes that make other people feel horrible for having different opinions

There is so much more wrong with the fandom that we should focus on like abuse apologists, pedophilia, racism, etc, that these types of petty issues shouldn’t be important. Also, because the show is so new, a lot of users are minors and it’s important to recognize that a lot of the headcanons people make help them validate their own identity they’re trying to realize. So making them feel horrible is really shitty of you if you’re an adult. And it’s sad to see the way that people treat bi headcanons as straight ones or something. Bi people exist and are also not straight
