not sure how i feel about this.

seems like the same concept of how “beautiful” it is to be colorblind which we all know simply negates the struggles of people of color by choosing to be some sort of transcendental guru that “doesnt see the colors of peoples’ skin". I know that she doesn’t have ill intentions, but i find her stance to be offensive masked in verbose diction.

I deleted a post earlier about this but fuck it…all of this blah blah blah just says to me “I’m cis but the word is kinda annoying so I don’t want to be called that. The word (like every other word) derived from something and somebody and I wanna make up my own words to make me feel better and easily dodge any trans topics or acknowledging privilege.“

aka utter bullshit. how you gon’ hop skip jump and dip around a word as real as the skin you live in? Yeah it’d be nice if we could just make up things to identify us but then it’d be like the tower of babel. Some things must be agreed upon ESPECIALLY when talking about oppressed and marginalized groups of people! I am sick and tired of people saying things like “I’m not white I’m peach” “I’m not a man I’m human" etc to dodge the fact that you can redefine yourself because you have been given the power to define! Meanwhile my trans lovelies have been labeled and defined against their will as a multitude of ugly and terrible things. You don’t want to identify as cis yet you don’t seem to care if you bask in the privilege of it?!?! so. disgusted. And the nerve to bury this in “prose" and artistry. I mean, really? Words are forced on you everyday? I’m sure they are. But a lot of words aren’t. Like shem*le, tr***y, freak, abomination, it, and other things I won’t continue to list. I’m fucking over it. Bullshit. Until trans people don’t have to fear going to the bathroom, fear being outed, fear being killed because “she tricked me" I don’t give a flying freeze-dried fuck about no goddamn vibrations. GTFOH. period. point blank.

cisgender is not something you can choose to not identify as, just like if you’re white and you call yourself a human being, you’re still white and enjoy all of the privileges included. whiteness is scientifically nonexistent/inaccurate as well, but we generally agree that to treat people as though whiteness is not there is ridiculous, since it does exist socially and culturally. lots of white people dont identify as white, but they are still white! same here. also, the very fact that you feel as though you can make this choice, when many people don’t have the luxury of choosing, says quite a bit about your privilege.

why am i not surprised at the continued cissexist failures from this person?

edit: i just noticed that this is like the position radfems use to argue trans people out of existence. it’s a passive-aggressive way of saying “if you identify this way, you are reinforcing the system!!!! i am better than you.”

Imagine that the earth has been invaded by a host of fae creatures set on conquering the world of man during the height of World War 1. The fae have not been seen for 500 years, but they are now set on world domination. Man has long forgotten about the world of magic, but his newly realized potential for mechanized warfare has leveled the playing field. As the invasion ensues the nations of the world scramble for new alliances to defeat the fae. Imagine aerial dog fights between The Red Baron and dragons. Imagine trench warfare with trolls and goblins. Picture battling giants and winged fairies with mustard gas and flame throwers. In the end the kingdoms of the fae are defeated. New treaties are drawn, and order realigns. Our story picks up in 1924 Brooklyn. Long Island still smolders from the battles fought there between the fae and the American military barely more then a decade before the story begins.

Now it’s the Roaring 20’s and everyone wants to forget the horrors of a war that spanned continents and dimensions. But the changes it wrought are not so easily dismissed. Humanity struggles to understand a world of re-awakened magic and folklore come to life. The failed invaders from the lands of faery find themselves adrift in the unfamiliar modern world, living relics of the past. It is an era of jazz and exploration, of art deco and danger; a time when the fists and courage of individuals can determine the course of history.
