He had caught wind almost immediately of his sister's arrival back in town, finding himself seated silently on her desk awaiting her entry, digits clasped as his gaze remained glued to them, only looking up as the door opened to reveal the younger Cordeaux. "Don't suppose you had any plans on letting me know that you were back, did you," Wesley questioned rhetorically as he pushed himself up off the desk. "It's good to see you, Corey. You look well."

“And here I thought you’d be willing to offer a little more fight, brother” Cameron taunted, before a fleeting sigh eased from his lips, “one way or another, Hope will get what she wants. I’m just trying to make sure I don’t become collateral damage.” 

“I’ve done nothing but fight my entire life, I’m too tired to fight anymore,” Wesley admitted with a heavy sigh. “I’ve got a family to worry about, to keep alive. Yes, I’m sure that’s all you’re doing. Tell me, how is Tara dealing with you being on the opposing side of her, hmm?”

       the reaction that juliana got from wesley was one that she had fully expected, after encountering his twin brother just hours before and cameron offering a very similar greeting. ❝ wesley. ❞ she spoke simply in response to his own one word greeting. the emotion behind her son’s eyes told jules that he wanted to believe that it was really her, but he was definitely going to need a bit more convincing. ❝ it’s real, i promise. ❞ the witch hummed softly, lifting herself from the couch and turning to face her son. ❝ do you think your wife would have let me into your home, around my grandchildren, if she wasn’t certain that it was actually me? ❞ wesley may have had no reason to trust her, but juliana hoped that he would at least trust his wife. 

The tears that had built up within cerulean hues were threatening to break the longer he stared at the visage of his mother, the longing and heartache of her loss had been detrimental to him while overseas and now it was all threatening to burst through once more as she attempted to assure him that she was real. The mention of his wife had the tears finally rolling down his features, head shaking defiantly. “She’s pregnant,” Wesley blurts out. “She gets pregnancy brain and forgets things sometimes. Could have slipped her mind that you were supposed to be dead in the moment.” It wasn’t a lack of faith or trust in his wife that had him so unsure but the fact that there was a supernatural war going on his backyard, his brother choosing the side of the almighty tribrid that was wreaking havoc in their hometown that was proving him unable to truly trust that this wasn’t just some ploy to get to him.

He recognized Wesley almost immediately as his features were made clear when he stepped into the light. “I know just about as much as you do.” he said, not having any explanations as to why he was there and how it was possible that he was back. “Do you know where Corey is? the girls?” He didn’t know how long whatever this was would last, and he didn’t want to waste time that he could be spending with his family. 

“Well that isn’t exactly helpful, now is it,” Wesley retorts, head shaking at his questions, unwilling to give up information about his sister and nieces to somebody that should be dead without knowing why they were back. “You understand why I can’t just give you that information, right? You died and now you’re here standing, breathing right in front of me. I can’t just give out the location of my family without first understanding how, why this is possible. Not with a supernatural war underway.”

“How much of a tip do I have to offer you to change your mind?” Ruby called back, crossing her arms and leaning against the bar.  “Because I’m willing to go fairly high for the chance to drink in an empty bar.  But if you’re not interested in the money, I can try somewhere else…”

Brow perks slightly at the woman’s words as he approaches from the opposite side of the bar, towel draping over his shoulder as his palms fell against the countertop, ocean hues studying the woman for a moment before nodding slightly. “No tip needed, what can I get you?”

       ❝ did you miss the part where you and mom taught me not to lie? ❞ maddox asked his father with a chuckle. when asked about where he was going, maddox fiddled with the hem of his shirt. ❝ i uh – yeah. i’m on my way to see josie. ❞

“We taught you not to lie to us,” Wes countered. “Which you’re technically doing right now, might I remind you. Sometimes a little white lie is okay though, depending on the situation. Josie? How is she?”

“Well I thought you might want a little help. Or even just some company.” the wolf mused as she settled on one of the bar stools, her hand resting against her pregnant stomach. “But I can go home if you’re really about to kick your pregnant wife out of your restaurant.”

The familiar voice pulled a genuine smile to the male’s lips, cerulean hues landing on his pregnant wife, adoration evident as he tossed a towel of his shoulder and moved to fix her a drink, her favorite non-alcoholic drink before placing it in front of her and moving around the bar to seat himself beside her, arm draping across the back of her seat. “I wasn’t expecting you to stop by,” Wesley mused. “Everything okay?”

Winter’s interest piqued when she heard her name being called out from behind her. She turned around, a smile spreading across her lips. “Wes!” she called out as she ran toward him, launching herself into his arms. “Oh, thank God you’re here!”

The second his sister had launched herself into his arms his own had wrapped tightly around her waist, cerulean hues squeezing shut tightly as the tears trickled down his features. “Winter,” Wesley exhaled heavily. “My God, you’re here. I didn’t think the rumors were true but God, here you are.”

Cameron’s reasons for siding with Hope were a little more complicated than he let on. He preferred it if everybody just drew the conclusion that he was power hungry, which was about eighty percent the truth, but it was also a ploy to keep an eye on his daughter, who had also sided with Hope. “Do you always have to be such a killjoy?” Cameron groaned, before a sharp smile played against the corners of his lips “what does it matter at this point. They do as their told, I like that.” His expression hardened, after an exasperated sigh left his lungs, “I just picked the winning side. I’m surprised you didn’t.” 

Ocean hues roll in annoyance at his brother, giving a half-hearted shrug of his shoulders as his gaze stays trained on his brother. “You say killjoy, I say realistic,” Wesley counters. Another roll of his eyes is given before he eventually pulls his gaze away, scoff leaving his lips as he shakes his head. “Can’t say I’m really surprised by any of that,” male muses. “I didn’t pick a side because I don’t care to be caught in the middle of some stupid war once again and risk any of my kids or my wife getting killed by a child with no humanity. Hard pass.”

        having walked back into the land of the living, juliana had made it a point to find her children as soon as possible. she had missed nineteen years of their lives and didn’t have a desire to miss any more than she already had. wesley had been the easiest of her children to track down.

       after asking some questions around town, the redhead had been directed to his home where she now sat on the couch waiting for his arrival. hearing the front door open, juliana shifted on the couch to face the door and watched as her son walked into sight. ❝ don’t freak out. ❞ was the first thing that came out of her mouth. ❝ your wife let me in. ❞ // @cfsolemnsoldiers​

It was a pretty typical day at the restaurant, perhaps a little more busier than usual but that happened every now and then and he hadn’t really thought much of it. He was doing his best to keep himself out of whatever war was brewing in the supernatural community, wanting no part of it and not wanting his family involved in something that would undoubtedly end with more than a few casualties, not willing to have any of his kids or his wife to be a part of those numbers. He had expected to be greeted by Sierra when he walked through the door, only to be greeted by silence as he stepped inside their home, moving forward as he dropped his keys on the table by the door only to stop dead in his tracks at the familiar voice that spoke as he entered the living room, cerulean hues landing on the familiar face of his mother as his heart all but stopped beating in his chest and a breath hitched in the back of his throat, brows furrowing deeply. “Mom,” Wesley questioned, voice cracking slightly. What kind of sick joke was this? Was this Cameron’s attempt at getting him to join him in whatever crusade he was working? Or was Vincent trying to get him to join his fight? “This isn’t real,” the male stated firmly, throat being cleared as he shook his head. “Whatever game Vincent or Cameron are trying to play here, it’s not going to work. I will not put my family in this stupid war that some child wants to wage on the entire town.”

“The last name is Cordeaux; does that ring any bells for you?” Winter pleaded with the person in front of her, disoriented from her recent resurrection. She may have grown up in this town, but her brain was in a complete fog that she could barely find her way around “Please, I just really need to find my family. If you could point me in the direction of A La Cordeaux maybe?”

The voice was ridiculously familiar, frame tensing as he turned to seek out the source, intensely bright topaz hues instantly landing on the brunette as the name of his restaurant is dropped from her lips, heavy breath expelling from his lips as he remained glued to the spot. “Winter,” Wesley called out questioningly. “Winnie?”

       ❝ what? no – this is definitely not a backpack full of junk food and energy drinks… ❞ maddox quickly objected, though the look on his face was proof alone that he had most definitely just been busted. // @afalsedawnstarters​

“You’ve really gotta work on your lying skills, son,” Wesley taunts his son as he gives a shake of his head. “Where are you going with all that anyways? Hot date?”

To say that Grayson was on edge was an understatement. While he had never been worried about things in the past, figuring he’d deal with things as they came and not really giving things a second thought in terms of threats and advances towards him, being in the real world again after two years had him disoriented and more jumpy than usual. 

Still, the alpha’s senses were as sharp as ever and as he was walking away from the crowds, he could tell that someone had been tailing him, so he very quickly turned the corner and confronted them, basically standing firm and causing whoever had been walking behind him to bump right into him. “You’ve been following me for some time, why don’t you just spare me the dramatics and tell me what you want?” he said, a certain roughness in his voice as he tried to make out the features of the person who’d just bumped into him, waiting for them to step out of the cover of the shadows. 

Hum leaves males lips at the others words, cerulean hues narrowing at the previously deceased wolf as he stops in his tracks at the sudden halt of Grayson as he rounded the corner. An unamused chuckle falls between them, digits surprisingly relaxed at his sides as he shakes his head. “Dramatics,” Wesley questions. “Only one being dramatic here is you. Why don’t you tell me how the hell it is that you’re stood here right now. Corey said you died but clearly you aren’t dead and I would like to know how and why?”

It was clear that Cameron was enjoying his alliance with Hope a little too much, but darkness called to darkness and so an alliance between him and the queens guard could only be expected. He feasted upon the fear and the chaos that the mere mention of Hope left behind, which always made his patrols through the quarter all the more enjoyable. 

“Don’t stop on my account” he hummed sharply, arms opening as he approached ​another. 

Brow rises at the familiar voice, turning to face the source as he pushed the younger male away, ordering him to get out of there as crystal hues landed on his twin brother. “These minions yours or Hope’s,” Wesley questioned rhetorically. “Oh wait, that’s right, you’re one of her puppets too. Didn’t plan on stopping. Kid did nothing wrong, let him go.”
