yeah, so, i did definitely take enough history classes. it's not that family estates aren't common in my world, it's that, uh, estates aren't really a thing in my country. that's the kind of phrasing i would expect to hear about in the uk, where they still have true nobility. and on that note, do you know what a republic is?

You wouldn't usually live there alone. Typically, the entire family lives there along with a full-time staff. In a castle, everyone can have their own bedrooms, and parlors, to the point of feeling less like living with family in one house and more like a sort of apartment situation.
