"Brock, do you think Misty’s pretty?"
Brock blinked in surprise at the question, it seemingly coming out of nowhere, but shrugged. He supposed they had just seen Misty again after a while, so maybe it wasn't that random. "Sure. I mean she's a little young for me, but yeah, objectively she's pretty. Why?"
Ash was silent for a long moment before letting out a long, anguished sigh. "You really think so?" he asked, obviously needling Brock a little. "She's not here, you can be honest."
"Sure," Brock said with a shrug, not quite ready to play into whatever Ash was getting at quite yet. "She's a Sensational Sister, after all. They're kinda known for their good looks."
"Yeah, I guess," Ash mused. "But it's not like she's anything at all like her sisters."
"They definitely have different aesthetics," Brock agreed, "but they're clearly related. If you look past the whole tomboy thing Misty has going on, she and Daisy have basically the exact same face."
Ash scrunched up his nose, probably trying to think back on the last time he saw Daisy to decide if that was true. "Really?"
"Sure. Add— What? Seven? Eight years onto Misty, and they could be twins."
Ash seemed to let that thought float around in his head for a bit, falling silent once again as the barest hint of a smirk began to sneak across Brock's lips.
"Do you think Misty's pretty?" Brock asked finally, teasingly.
Ash's face immediately bloomed red. "No," he scoffed.
Brock bit back the grin from growing wider. "Are you sure?" he drawled as Ash's face got even redder. "You're blushing."
"Why is Ash blushing?" asked Max, as he and May returned to camp carrying the firewood they had been out collecting.
Brock chuckled, enjoying seeing Ash get so obviously flustered. "We were just talking about Misty," Brock explained, smirking. "Ash thinks she's pretty."
"She is pretty," May said simply, raising an eyebrow as her eyes narrowed suspiciously at Ash. “Why are you even denying it?" she asked, knowingly. "Are you embarrassed to admit you think she's pretty?"
"Do you think I'm pretty?" May asked, taking a few long strides towards him so he could see her up close, smirking devilishly.
Ash scrunched up his nose in annoyance. "Not right now," he scoffed. The smirk on May's lips widened. "What?!" he snapped.
"It's just interesting to me that you don't get flustered about me, but you do about Misty, is all," she teased, causing Ash to glare. “It’s almost like you like her or something.”
"Ash and Misty, sitting in a tree..." Max sang under his breath with a chuckle.
Ash spun on him instantly, his face blooming red. "Shut up!" he snapped. “I don’t like Misty!”
Brock chuckled at the scene and shook his head.
He couldn't wait to call Misty when they got to the next town.
