i was gonna supplement the dnd need over the summer by running my own campaign for my irl friends but im so bad at worldbuilding ...

i recommend coming up with a world/societal altering quirk to your world and then go crazy with ideas from there. for example: my campaign, afterlife is closed off and people become aware of both the fact that the afterlife does exist and now it is inaccessible which leads to all sorts of questions on how people go about their days: rise of cults, people living with nothing to lose, people living in fear of everything, themes of fate and existentialism. another example is a twitch streamer's campaign i watched a tiny bit of but the premise there were books that when people read they would go crazy and become these cosmic horror entities, so the government straight up banned READING and anyone caught reading would be arrested/killed, which opens up a whole bunch of questions for world building. dis and developing core themes to your world and always falling back on them is so helpful and makes it so much more enjoyable imo
