if anything, joshua's curiosity is like it always has been: done so without a slither of fear for what repercussions may follow. his smile isn't at all apologetic when taking a step back, both hands then interlocking behind. he can feign ignorance here. what else is there to do in a city that has taken him involuntarily? whatever this is, like many other nooks and crannies here, joshua hasn't seen it before. well, he may as well keep up some conversation, if this stranger is anyone worth dancing with.

there's a heavy box in his arms and it doesn't belong to him, but no one else in his vicinity seems intent on claiming it.

it's really heavy. like if dan heng opened it right now and saw a pile of ugly, gray rocks in it — he wouldn't be surprised. it's heavy. and not his (evidenced by the extremely bold, extremely purposeful "TO: JOSHUA" scrawled on one side of the cardboard). and more importantly, perhaps most importantly, dan heng doesn't want it.

with that in mind, he tries for the attention of the slowest-moving passerby nearest to him: a lanky teenager that looks approachable enough.

"... do you know a joshua?"

funny this stranger should ask that. it's very unassuming that someone mysterious should order something as obscure as a box of heavy rocks which happens to then land in the hands of someone who is not them. someone might even get a chuckle or two out of the absurdity of the situation. someone like joshua themself, maybe.

but such details don't matter, of course. the last thing joshua wants to do is answer truthfully, because where would the fun in that be? he would much rather take hold of this situation and stretch it as thin as it can go. he may as well have some fun around here, if there springs a shining opportunity. joshua turns his unguarded attention to this newcomer, raising an eyebrow. he gives a brief glance to the box before tilting his head slightly.
