;the knight & a good witch
who: @celestinexnbmbm and rowan where: garudo village trigger warnings: death thoughts, abandonment thoughts, panic, anxiety..
things, had not been going to plan. well, truthfully... living the life of someone he had read about wasn't the plan but it seemed like something more than just.. not going to plan. it wasn't every day you could honestly feel yourself dying in one body only to wake up in another where everything seemed to be working perfectly fine. as much as hua had been trying to differentiate between the two lives he now knew existed, it was proving to be difficult.
while there were certain things that seemed to be muscle memory. the way he can move in a fight. pure instincts that guided him when he was lost. hua couldn't really describe it. how he knew how to do something of the things rowan clearly knew how to do. but, it was a moment he had no intention of looking a gift horse in the mouth for.
instead, he tried to go with the flow. in a moment of fear and pure panic, that flow found him in the middle of the a forest. with a path to no where and a calm he hadn't been feeling since waking in the world he was in. he didn't know that the man he was pretending to be, had a connection to the earth or plants living on it. but, the more he thought about it.. the more it made sense.
if the true knight knew anything of his gifts, that instinct wasn't bleeding through. all hua had was his own curiosity. the very reason he found himself in garudo village. wanting to see what there was to it all.
strangely, the people didn't shrink from him. over the last week or two, he had become someone they saw and didn't fear. the had no reason to from when the true rowan was walking among them and his softness now, seemed to ease them even more.
while he walked among those known to have magical gifts, he hadn't expected to see celestine among them all. the first time he had run into her, was when he was panicking just as often as he was breathing and.. it was a mess.
"lady celestine," he greeted, something that spoke of ease with himself, which was a lie. still, he was trying.. learning.. "i hadn't expected to see you here."
many things seemed to celestine to be strange these days. people no longer acting themselves; abilities shifting. she didn't care for it. not atΒ all. she longed for the predictable. to wake and walk among known liabilities. she hadn't lived this long as a subservient being seated at the heel of the king and royal family for all of her work and effort to be for nothing. unknown variables equated to unknown risks. she was powerful, the most powerful witch known to exist; but even she was not incapable of death. she had her limits, for things to change now was...concerning.
still, her concern was easily hidden as she heard the greeting, head cocked for a moment, listening, like a cat on the prowl attempting to keep track of its prey. she'd felt a swell of magic, something soothing and sweet. something she had been drawn to, even as she worried in the back of her mind thatΒ cecilia had struck again. worried she would find the village of garudo burned to the ground, naught but cinders remaining. when she was sure the trail she had been following had indeed, run cold, she sighed internally before a smile graced her features.Β
"sir rowan," was offered by way of greeting, a gentle tip of her head as much respect as she was expected to give to one below her own station as nation's savior, silly as it was. she watched him quietly for a moment, eyes of complex brown taking in his posture, how he held himself. their last encounter had beenΒ strangeΒ to say the very least. he had seemed more a child in the midst of a storm than a bold and brave night of elestren. he seemed more himself now, but the good witch couldn't help but to wonder if the panic had been an act, or if it was the swaggering confidence of a knight that was the true deceit.Β
with curiosity burning and having lost her original target, she allowed her own countenance to soften, gentling as her smile grew sweeter. "i hadn't intended to be here, but something required my attention." eyes running over him a final time she hummed. "unfortunately it seems i was too late to be of assistance after all, and it has been a while since i walked the village.Β though, i might say the same about you, sir knight." it was an actual battle to keep her brow from hiking upwards in curiosity, to keep the accusation from her tone. "regardless, it is good to see you. it seems you are feeling better than you were when last we met."Β
