“Rough day?” Jayce heard a low but youthful-sounding voice to his right.

“More like a rough year,” Jayce muttered into his glass before finishing the last of his whiskey in one clean swallow.

He turned toward the speaker, and blinked.

Sitting beside him was… a boy. No, a young man. If Jayce had to pick a single word to describe him, it would be angelic.

His gaze traveled upward, to the long, elegant neck adorned with a black ribbon choker, a delicate silver heart resting at the center. Jayce had several deeply inappropriate thoughts about that ribbon in under three seconds.

And then he reached the boy’s face. It was beautiful. Unfairly beautiful.

Full lips, slightly parted. A beauty mark above them. Another under one eye. And those eyes, sharp, bright, golden. They reminded him of Millie’s eyes.
