The veteran first heard the quiet whisperings that had become the background noise for the hub for a while now. It was peaceful….almost to the point of serenity. Gentle waves of activity lapping on the hub’s metaphorical shore, rhythmic in it’s a approach and very calming. The epitome of chill.

Yesterday the veteran took part in debates with ego rankings. It gave the place a flurry of activity.

That’s when it happened. A sign that the one who built the hub was very much aware of how much the egos were missed and what he planned to do about it.

The veteran braced themselves…..

A sound that was familiar, old and something they were convinced would not come for a while longer started to resonate and rumble the very foundations. Instead of a gentle sea of mourners and musings, violent, energetic and vibrant waves of shouts and screams flooded the hub, making their home in the corridors once again.

A long forgotten feeling of warmth of lit fires and alarms echoed throughout. Then came the people, the regulars, the ones who popped in now and again, the long term absentees and of course, the newcomers, all converging with wide eyes of excitement and fear.

The veteran smiled fondly at the sight. The hub had always alive and well but this news was a welcome return of speculation and anticipation. It gave the place a revived feeling.
