I love all of them, of course! But Layla is definitely my favorite of the new trio 🩷

She's the one I find myself rooting for the most! And also the one I relate to the most. She’s a sweet soul 😍

Zane and Camila are also awesome! 💙💚 I love Zane's cheerfulness and energy (especially when he plays music!). And I love Camila's confidence and how well-intentioned she is!

What I like the most about Charmswell so far is its vibe!

Not only because it's a magic school- I LOVE a good ol' magic school- but to me, it feels more chill and not as strict compared to Royal Prep! It's like...it's like college! Almost! (And a part of me says that having gone to, then graduated, college myself between the conclusion of the first show and the start of this second show! Studying the next best thing after magic! Film and animation! But I digress...)

The campus is HUGE, the students get tea time breaks (something I don't think Royal Prep even had! They had tea etiquette lessons and recess, yes- but not, like, a dedicated time to chill out and have tea!), and of course, there are the castle clubhouses to hang out in while you are in-between classes! Basically, I feel like there is a lot more freedom at this school! Something I wasn't necessarily expecting...BUT I LOVE IT!

Now I could be off, WAY off- but it also seems like Sofia, her friends, and their classmates don’t have every single one of their classes every day in the week, either...

Like, for example, I take it they only have sorcery and potions class with Cedric on certain days of the week 🪄🧪 (let's use Monday and Wednesday), while other days of the week they have enchanted gardening class with Muddykins ✨🌸 (perhaps Tuesday and Thursday) and so on and so forth! Which is also like college!

And although meeting people and making friends is another one of Sofia’s greatest strengths, there's also the sense that Sofia’s classmates are more "her people" compared to her classmates at Royal Prep- because they're all interested in magic and that's what they all came to this school for! Whereas the people at Royal Prep had many different interests and paths they wanted to pursue...with some of them even having ZERO interest in magic!

But yeah! Charmswell feels like college, even though it’s not. Because the students are like 10-12 years old, and they all get to go home to their kingdoms everyday and be with their families, too!

I loved Sofia learning how to ride and embrace Wildfyre in "New Horse on the Block"!

Sofia in Flying Derby is one of my favorite things about Sofia as a whole. And I'm pumped for future Flying Derby episodes in this next chapter of her story!

But the fun thing about Sofia riding Wildfyre for the first time was even though she's an expert at Flying Derby now, there's still a lot she can learn about riding a flying horse! And her learning to have an open mind to a new way of flying was really entertaining to watch! 🐴🪽

"We’re Royal Heroes" from "Zane the Hero" FOR SURE!!

Some of my personal favorite songs in Sofia the First are ones that are easy to sing along to (it makes me feel part of the adventure more! 😄), and this song is that, and just all around AWESOME and really super catchy!

I mean...the LYRICS, the BEAT, THE REFERENCES SOFIA MAKES TO THE FIRST SHOW??? And of course Zane gaining the confidence to go out there and be a hero by the song's conclusion!

I'll go with Pepper for this one!

First of all, he's growing on me, you guys- by "Show and Spell" I was like, "oh yeah, Pepper's a fun little guy! I love having him as Castle Merryweather's personal cheerleader for anything Sofia, Layla, Zane, and/or Camila do!" 😍

🆕 Favorite new character?

I have enjoyed meeting and getting to know ALL of the new characters so far! But my favorite new character would have to be Layla! 🩷

The more I see her, the more I absolutely fall in love with her! (/platonic) I love her butterfly wings, but I also love her personality-

She's a little bit of a perfectionist, she wants to do her best in anything that comes her way, and she doesn't like to make any mistakes- I'm also very much like that myself (and that's how I knew without a doubt she and Amber would totally hit it off when they first met! AAAAAAAAH!)

But she’s also incredibly sweet, sensitive (in a good way!), clever- oh, and she LOVES stuffed animals! Yeah- I'm 25, and I still love my stuffed animals too! You could never make me not love them 🧸🥰

Since you have announced your ask game a couple hours ago, I have wondered who among the Charmswell students are your favorites?

It can be from either the main cast or a minor character? Who do you like among these kids and why?

I'm especially curious about your favorite minor character because they haven't gotten any proper development yet.

Of the main cast? I love Sofia, Layla, Zane, and Camila! But I would say Layla has my heart the most 🩷 She’s SO precious- I love her so much! Her style, her butterfly wings, her stride to do her best in anything she comes across, her interest in enchanted gardening- just to name a few!

I am definitely interested to see more of Devin...I'm especially intrigued about the backstory of his and Zane’s relationship- because it was stated in the series premiere that they already knew each other before coming to Charmswell. But also, I have a hunch that Devin acts the obnoxious and conceited way he does for a reason and not for no reason, and I am curious to learn what that reason is... 👀

✨ Favorite Cedric moment?

Yay!! I get to name another favorite Cedric moment! Here's the first one I mentioned!

One of my other favorite Cedric moments in RM is when he makes his grand return entrance at the beginning of "Abracadazzle"!

Like most of you I'm sure, and as you can probably imagine, I was SOOOO excited to see him! I missed him SOOOOOO much! 🙏😭

👍 Favorite episode?

This next chapter of Sofia's story has so many great episodes so far! It’s hard to pick just ONE favorite! But I will say for a start "Show and Spell" is definitely my first favorite. It’s an episode where I came out of it having thoroughly enjoyed every single minute! 

I LOVE that Cedric is a sorcery teacher at Charmswell now, I love that the titular show and spell was HIS idea- and just as much, I loved loved LOVED watching Layla master her butterfly wings! 🦋✨

Ngl I assumed she had already known how to use them before we met her in the series premiere! And as a person who has the tendency to have anxiety creep up on me, the lesson of staying calm and thinking happy thoughts in a new and frightening situation is SOOOOO good!

✏️ Write-in Question! How do your opinions compare from first impressions (eg: trailers, previews, etc) to now?

Excellent question! My opinions on RM before and after watching the first 8 episodes are pretty much the same! I was already excited and open-minded going into this show, and I still am! 😄🫶

Yes, the animation style is new and different and not like the first show, but it's not terrible- it's incredible and BEAUTIFUL tbh! I liked it the moment I saw it, and I'm getting more used to it the more I see it!

And I was already hyped on a HUGE level that Sofia decided magic was her next path as a princess, and I was very excited to meet and get to know her new friends!

I tried not to see too many previews in advance because I have found that when I do that, my enjoyment on the piece of media in question when it finally comes out tends to be more lackluster than I want it to be. I like to be surprised and not know way too much!

💙 Favorite Zane moment?

Anytime he brings out his magical mandolin and plays music! 🎶☀️😄

But a specific moment? I would say I really enjoyed Zane bonding with Reggie over their shared love of catapults during “Royal Mix It Up”!

There’s something delightful about how there was James and Zandar and their shared love of cannons at Royal Prep in the first show, and NOW there’s Zane and Reggie and their shared love of catapults at Charmswell in RM! 😂

✨ Favorite Cedric moment?

Every moment he’s on screen! 😃 Lolololololololol 😂

But I would say the first Cedric moment in RM that comes to mind for me that I absolutely ADORE is in "The Green-Eyed Monster" when the goo monster that Zane created bursts into the Charmswell cafeteria, and Cedric immediately steps in and defends all the students from harm! 🤩

Cedric is not big enough to cover them all, and he knows it, but his first instinct is to just spread his arms out and protect them all anyway!
