CCA Basics

Counseling is available for current students (free for up to 10 sessions). If you have a student that seems to be having a problem, please refer them to the counseling website. There is no place to drop by so they have to call to make an appointment.

Students might need a little nudging to use this resource and they have to be proactive (they actually need to call) but please keep these issues confidential.

Have a student who is struggling with basic skills? 

Send them to the Learning Resource Center for academic coaching (tutoring). There is academic coaching for:

-Writing (especially encourage for ESL students)

-Math

-Software (Adobe Suite, FinalCut, AfterEffects, Flash, etc.)

Students must first register for coaching here. Then they can check out the coaching schedules and email a coach to set up a meeting 4-7 days in advance. Make sure to clarify which campus you need coaching on.

If you are bringing your class on a field trip, you must complete 2 of 3 forms. All of the forms can be downloaded here from the CCA website.

-A faculty must fill out Form A. You must list the students names (or attach a roster). If a faculty member is driving students, they must also include a copy of their insurance indemnification card and vehicle registration.

-If the field trip is just a day trip, the class can all sign one copy of Form B.

-If it is a longer trip or may have certain risks involved, each student can fill out Form C.

As a faculty member you should have your ID badge on you while at CCA. Please keep it close by. 

-You can pick up your faculty ID from Public Safety at the Hooper building (across Hooper street from the main building; there is a marquee above the entrance) between 9am and 4pm. If you aren't able to stop by during those times let your program manager know so that they can arrange another time with Public Safety.

moodle.cca.edu 

Login with your username and password.

Moodle is a platform for building an online resource for your class. You can:

- Create a calendar outline of your class

- Upload pdf syllabi, readings, assinments, etc.

- Collect assignments

- Calculate grades (note: the grading function here is not connected to webadvisor. If you calculate grades in moodle, you will still have to enter grades in webadvisor at the end of the semester)

For training, if you are a student or faculty member of CCA, you can go to proxy.cca.edu, login with your CCA email username and password, click the "Lynda.com" link, and then once on the Lynda site, search for "Moodle" and find extensive information and trainings.

You can print at many different locations around campus: Lab D (2nd floor), the library, the Grad Center computer lab, and even your own computer.

1. At any CCA computer, after pressing print on your screen, you must also release the print.

2. Go to printers.cca.edu. 

3. Choose the campus you want to print from (SF). 

4. A popup will appear. Login in with your CCA username and password.

5. Check the box for the job that you want to release and click "print."

6. If you want to print from your own computer, you have to set it up. It's a little complicated but all the details are here:

1. You will need to know your ID number and PIN (different from username and password). You can retrieve your ID Number and Pin by going to directory.cca.edu. Click on "Account Management" on the left and then "Retrieve Pin" from the drop down. Here you will enter your CCA username and the password that you use to access your cca webmail and webadvisor. Then your Id # and pin will pop up. Write this down and keep it near your heart.

2. Once you get to CCA, you can go to the copy center which is now on the 2nd Floor next to Lab D.

  3. Enter your ID and pin into the little pad to the side of the copier. Once entered make sure to click "Copy" instead of scan or any of the other options on the main menu.

4. Scanning is a useful function on the machines as well. If you click "Scan" you can enter your email address (you must enter your email each time or it will be sent into the ether) and your scans will be sent as a pdf into your inbox which you can then upload to moodle or email to students.

(login with the same username and password as your email)

Webadvisor does more for you than you may ever know. On it you can:

- Access your class roster (with the capability of emailing students)

- Upload midterm and final grades (MANDATORY)

- Add required books/materials/readers for each class (MANDATORY)

You will have a physical mailbox during any given semester that you are teaching. They are located on the first floor in the hallway adjacent to West1 and 2 (near the library).

Login with your username and password.

Make sure you check this mail regularly (recommened) or forward this mail to an account you use a lot.

All important CCA announcements and departmental events will be notified through this. You definitely don't want to miss deadline reminders or urgent news! And this is the best way for students to get in touch with you.

You should have received your username and password with your contract packet. If for some reason you haven’t, please let your program manager know.

You can change your password by going to directory.cca.edu. Sign in with your temporary password. Go to “account management” and then “change password.” 

You can also find your pin at directory.cca.edu. Click “Retrieve Pin” You will need this for the copy center located on the 2nd floor of the main building (1111 Eighth Street).

Your username and password will also give you access to CCA email (via gmail), webadvisor (roster and grades), moodle, faculty bios, etc.
