I thought I would channel my inner @mattcremona for these pics. This is a small writing desk that I’ve built versions of for about 16 yrs. Simple and elegant this one is a painted maple base with Flame Maple top and aged Cherry back and sides as well as a figured cherry drawer face. Natural wood parts finished with @generalfinishes #armrseal and for durability the colored bottom and the clear top are conversion varnish. To get the feel and experience that I wanted when sitting at this desk, I hand polished the top @woodwhisperer style for 4 1/2 hours to produce a smooth silk like feel. The Benjamin Franklin quote, “Either write things worth reading, or do things worth the writing.” Is woodburned into the arched Cherry back by hand, not laser.
