Anna Cavazos & Alley O bring you their follow up EP ‘Rescue’, with two originals created in Berlin after an inspiring summer of open air parties, sunshine and house music.

‘Rescue’ is a soulful electronic cut, a love ballad carefully crafted within a deep and evolving house record. A moving blend of sweet and dark, the track’s rustling drums, reverberating synth lines and arpeggiated keys underlie the stirring vocal. ‘Crave’ draws it’s inspiration from sound from a bygone era. With nods to early vocal house, it blends an airy melody and plucky 90s synth line with a chorus that lingers in the brain like an anthem.

Little Giant Records presents its debut release Talking Colours, an EP produced by San Francisco-based artist Sam Haas. The remixes are brought to you by Brooklyn’s Chris Luzz and L.A.’s Anna Cavazos. The package maintains a solid connection to the roots of US house music and delivers a sophisticated sound that seamlessly moves from the dancefloor to the living room.

About Sam Haas:

Sam Haas’s love of house music was born in the warehouses of the 90′s US rave scene, where he established himself as a DJ and promoter. Despite his decision to pursue a career in Advertising, he has continued to produce and release his music internationally.

 Now with over 20 years of influences to draw upon, Sam’s style has morphed into a unique amalgamation of funk, deep, and tech-infused house, with a distinctly modern touch. His works have been released on MEME, Silence In Metropolis, iRecords, and Defected Records.

 About The EP:

Talking Colours is a representation of his modern, yet nostalgic sound. The title track has a melancholic feel, with layered synth textures and a hypnotizing spoken word.

 Little Giant’s co-founders Anna Cavazos and Chris Luzz shine on the remix front. Anna’s incorporates a plucky bassline, a bevy of stirring pads and arpeggiated synth infusions, while Chris’s remix shouts to traditional underground house music. A throbbing bass drives the reverberating percussion and an infectious piano topline gives his rendition a blissful vibe.

The second track, I Must, is a solid dance-floor gem. Its funked-out bass and rustling synth textures are complimented by perfectly placed vocal touches.

Shesaidso hosted a Q&A at Soho House West Hollywood on Feb 17th, 2016 moderated by KCRW’s Marion Hodges. The event examined the rise of underground record label Soulection, whose weekly radio show on Beats1 and carefully curated artist roster has spawned a vast and devoted fan base. Their model has been so successful; they’ve even turned down buyout offers from major labels. Representing Soulection was their Global Strategy Director, Jacqueline Schneider, who described the culmination of Soulection, the nurturing of their Artists and the creation of what could be called a movement of fans and devotees. 

As a record label owner and artist myself, I was curious to hear what the secret may be to actually making money as an underground entity in the music industry. What is the magic behind something so small blossoming into an international powerhouse seemingly overnight? The people! They can make or break a label’s success and when they leave a positive wake wherever they go, it isn’t hard to get artists, sponsors and media on board. Jacqueline described Soulection’s founder, Andre Power, as charismatic, kind and enthusiastic, while Jacqueline herself had a refreshing authenticity that beamed out to the audience. Throughout the evening it became clear that the Soulection crew has a friendship and bond that act as the glue for the whole operation.

So with the foundation of a tight knit crew, we must examine the product. Soulection seems to have found the formula to keeping top quality music content flowing constantly. One aspect mentioned was Soulection’s focus on nurturing artists, some from the ground up. Theirs is a rare approach where artists are treated like family, giving them room to create without being stifled or micro managed by the label. The result, as we can see, is a stellar catalogue of music made by a roster of loyal artists.  

Another of the outstanding elements to Soulection’s success is the strong community that they’ve created with fans spanning the globe. By way of their live events series and free content, Soulection has managed to build something of a movement. Since their first event, attendance has grown to the point of lines forming around the block and social media numbers soaring. It’s no wonder they were approached to do a weekly show on the acclaimed Beats1 radio.
