Today I talked to my classes about our dreams. It is so easy to decide you are too late or too old or too “something“ to focus on and pursue your dreams. I think as long as I am breathing I will work towards one of my dreams. I needed to get a professional headshot to go on the book jacket of my soon to be released memoir. I take pictures. I am in pictures. I am comfortable with that, as long as I’m doing a yoga pose and/or I’m in charge. I messaged Stacy and asked her if she would take my professional picture. She did the yoga pictures for us for studio website. I knew she had a great day and was a wonderful photographer. I started thinking about what I would wear...what would help me feel confident. I knew it would be black. The day of the shoot, I got dressed and decided to trust. I’m glad I did. Stacy instantly made me feel comfortable. I still did the weird thing with my eyebrows that happens when I overthink pictures. It didn’t happen too often though or, maybe she deleted those. 😀 I am thrilled with how the pictures turned out. I wanted to look like a friend. I wanted to look like someone who cares. It amazes me how often we focus on the disappointments in our lives more than we focus on the joy. I hope for everyone if you had a list of joys and a list of disappointments your joys would be far longer than the disappointments. When I look back at the disappointments in my life… More often than not, Joy grew out of those disappointments. What were your first three moments of joy this morning? Flipping upside down always grounds me! I was talking to a client about strategies to help you focus and stay grounded when life gets busy. Some of the things I find helpful are yoga, laughing, taking a walk and flipping #upsidedown .
