trying to explain why i love being aroace is like if love is the light spectrum romantic and sexual attraction are visible light and then every other possible kind of love is outside of the visible spectrum and it’s like. just wait till you guys find out about radio waves they’re actually really important in a lot of modern technology. same with x-rays and infrared. and if you guys knew where and how to look you’d actually see there’s way more light around you than you actually thought there was. you’ve trapped yourself in a fake box of what light is based on what you can see but if you try a little harder to look there’s so much more out there. visible light isn’t special just because it’s what you happen to be able to see, stars are made of all of it, every wavelength, visible light is just a fraction of their radiance. if you didn’t bother with visible light so much you’d be able to appreciate what light truly is so much better. just saying.

yeah
Everyone reblog this. Mandatory.
Welp if it’s mandatory then sure
since mrs, ms, and mr are all descended from the latin word magister, i propose the gender neutral version should be mg, short for "mage"
some people think this is a shitpost so i want to clarify that i am dead fucking serious. make mage the official gender neutral honorific NOW. i want it on my passport. i want it on my bank account. i want doctors and judges to use it for me. i don't care if it sounds a little silly. people thought "missus" sounded crass at first. call me mg.
benefits of mg:
easy to pronounce, even for children (though kids 4 & younger may pronounce it more like "mayd" or "maygh")
ONE SYLLABLE!!! ("individual" is too goddamn LONG.) you have to be able to say it quickly and casually
ends in a soft vowel sound, so it'll flow right into the next word ("ind" halts the whole sentence)
fits neatly into the existing structure as a relative of master/mistress that can be abbreviated down to an m and one other letter
distinct enough that it can't be mistaken for either gendered term (if you call me mix I'll kill you. it sounds like miss with extra steps)
wizard.
drawbacks:
there aren't any
yes, i know about milligrams and magnesium. i don't give a shit. ms can also mean microsoft. who cares.
I had to find this from somewhere and reblog it again because I work at a high school summer camp and told the kids to call me Mg. Day during our first day programming today.
They went NUTS for it! Not only did they love it, but there was an immediate click in understanding about they/them pronouns *from the entire cohort* that I haven’t experienced in 3 years of programming.
And linking it back to the root words Mister and Missus as OP so wonderfully provided helped establish that using they/them or neopronouns isn’t just playing around or “Miss but different” the way it can be with Mx. I used to try to go by Teacher Day because I was still getting she/her’d all the time but that also came with the problems of the students only being able to see me in the role of Teacher and being intimidated by the educational institution and their grades (I don’t even work for the school I’m external staff I don’t even have WiFi access). And I’d still get she/her’d all the time.
As soon as I introduced Magister they saw that a nonbinary person could be an Adult with a *societal* role outside the binary. It was immediately visible in their ecstatic faces. And I didn’t get misgendered today.
The only downside is I’m gonna have to practice my card tricks because I did promise I could do magic!
reblog if you too are bi and confused or support others’ right to be bi and confused

what being a transfem jax truther felt like... after... episode 9.......
@jack-of-heartstrings - sorry i cant let u leave this in the replies
"Except abstraction isn't death. It's more like a mix of psychotic break and lasting disability. We watched a cautionary tale about a closeted transfem who hurt people by trying to push them away over and over, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't FORCE everyone to stop loving her. We watched her realize too late, but still get that fleeting chance to understand and accept that she WAS still loved, that it never had to be this way. It's a message to everyone in her shoes to please not let it get this bad, but also loudly screaming, no matter how bad it gets, you are not unlovable; I see you and I love you and you are not alone. And then we watched her friend care so much for her that she pushed the others to find new, kinder ways to take care of people like her and to allow her to still be around other people in some capacity, even if she'll likely never really recover or be able to live like she used to. She still exists. She still feels. She's still loved, and being given the best quality of life they can figure out how to give her. It IS tragic. It's not a happy ending for her. But it's bittersweet and, importantly, a very personal story to Goose herself. It was always an existential horror about finding meaning in a meaningless existence, and it still offers her so much sympathy and grace and love amid her tragedy."
@tazzymcclazzy this is what i was trying to say earlier
prev dont leave that in the tags either!!! put it on da post!!
alright yeah that's probably a good idea. sorry for bad formatting, I did this very tired and will probably fix it later lol
#THIS THIS THIS, #I am screaming into the void and begging all of you to listen to what the show is actually telling you about Jax and trans people, #her story isn't transphobic. it's tragic. telling the story of a woman who never got to be one is difficult but necessary., #I always want to ask people who think this ending was problematic: is it really transphobic to tell the story of those who didn't make it?, #why should we limit ourselves to happy endings when that's not how trans people always exist irl?, #the trans experience is painful and beautiful. it's not easy to be trans. there is nothing wrong with the message this show sends., #we're all so used to transphobic stories that the one time we get a really good trans story... people just hate it for nonexistent reasons, #there's a bit to criticize about the ending but none of it has to do with Jax's ending, #do you understand??? do you see what I mean now???, #you don't have to force yourself to like tragedy but come on. give credit where credit is due.
