alrighty so. I already have two posts where I shared my KH fic series, but I wanted to make a new, more polished one, so here we are.
the strength of our hearts
Sometimes, all it takes to cut through the darkness is a connection.
A rewrite of the Kingdom Hearts series after KH2.
general fic info:
main playlist (yes I know it's insanely long at the moment, I'm going to condense it into a much shorter playlist sometime soon so it works better for the entire series.)
the word "rewrite" implies that I dislike KH as it is, which is very much not true. I just had a cool idea and wanted to rewrite the entire series to tell a new version of the story with my idea in mind.
there will be a total of 3 main fics in the series, with maybe one or two shorter ones to fill in the gaps. the first two main fics are already posted and I'm working on them at the same time to maintain continuity, as they are parallel stories and will eventually converge at the end of the first fic. these fics cover the entire story from the end of KH2 to just before the beginning of KH3, while the third fic will focus on KH3 and ReMind.
this story is heavily Soriku & Destiny Trio focused. not to say that the other characters and relationships aren't important, it's just that Sora, Riku, and Kairi are the heart of my story.
Soriku is a veeeeery slow burn in this series. but! it's for a good reason! I'm not going to leave you all hanging when it comes to their relationship and how it develops. it's going to be good, trust me!!
Kairi is aromantic. this is very important for her side of the story. of course, it's not all of who she is. but it affects every part of her life, and her being in the closet makes that much more difficult... and that's exactly what I want to explore in this series. :)
if I list a relationship in the tags, it will be explored in the fic. I won't tag relationships that aren't important to anyone's characterization or development at some point in the story. if I don't tag a major trio or friendship or something, that relationship is still present, it's just not given as much attention as the tagged relationships.
most of the KH3 arc of the story is inspired by Sleeping Realm theory and the posts I've made about that theory. many of the changes I've made for my fic serve the purpose of supporting the topics and themes the Sleeping Realm theory presents. thus, my series puts a lot of emphasis on love (in all of its forms), sacrifice, and the importance of memories.
the strongest theme in my story is that of finding yourself through connection. this is the core of every single character arc in the entire series. I didn't plan for this btw, it just sorta happened. but I really like this direction for KH's story, so it stuck. :)
there are content warnings in the chapter notes & on this post, but the series isn't nearly as upsetting as it sounds. the warnings are only there to tell you what to expect. I promise it isn't too bad, there's just a lot of heavy stuff in the subtext.
when KH4 releases, I'm going to continue this series with a fourth main fic. but I want to finish writing what I have planned so far before I start working on post-ReMind stuff.

Castle Oblivion is a character for plot reasons (it wanted to be a character and. well. here we are)

Castle Oblivion has a lot of lore. most of it is my explanation for the castle's weirdness. some of it I literally just made up because I thought it was interesting & that the plot would benefit from it. possibly the most heartbreaking part of working on part 1 while brainstorming part 3 is realizing that I am about to undo (?) so much character development for Sora and I'm somehow still very excited to do it...
part 1: Sora regains a bunch of memories and even brings back other people's memories/hearts in the process
part 3: Sora loses all of his memories to save his best friends, setting him back so far that he can't fix things himself anymore

I already have a post somewhere I can’t locate that says exactly this but
No one hates women more than TERFs. No one is more misogynistic than them. They are white nationalist, conservative, trad wife adjacent sexist douche bags.
I’ll never get over this. I’ll never stop talking about it. There’s too much at stake for my trans friends, family, and all. There’s too much at stake for those who cares about liberation and bodily autonomy. I’ll always be calling TERFs out as long as they exist and dirty up feminism and as long as they are an especially virulent scourge HERE.
Ya know who’s never made me feel reduced to my fucking menstrual cycle? Or implied my brain is fundamentally worse than a cis man’s? Or outright disparaged femininity? Or told me that I don’t understand feminism? Or showed up in the notes of my post telling me I don’t know myself? The trans women I know, follow, am connected to, and read.
I’m not 20. I’m not new. (There’s nothing wrong with being either of those things I’m just not them.) But almost every time TERFs run away with my posts attacking me bc I hate their twisted views, they infantalize me and say I must not know anything or be a kid. Or that I don’t intimately KNOW ALREADY what their fucked up views are and have rejected them for good reason.
They hate that the truth is that me and millions of folks just like me have been in feminist spaces longer than many of them have been alive and because of said feminist exposure we are trans positive, inclusive, celebratory, affirming, loving, and solidarity oriented.
The linkages between the experiences of cis and trans women are obvious, overt, clear, and undeniable. Misogyny is misogyny.
I’ve been in said spaces since 2003 and have worked in feminist, girl serving and focused nonprofits since 2005. TERFs/their views make me feel disgusting, small, stuck, and hated. I don’t know how many trans folks I’ve known and interacted with in my IRL lifetime but it’s definitely north of 30 bc 2 of my closest friends (who I’ve known since my late teens) are trans and welcome me into their spaces and several of my coworkers are trans/nb. I can’t think of a single trans person online or IRL who has dismissed my lived experience or harassed me in my inbox like the TERFs here do. (I don’t know any TERFs IRL but maybe they’re hiding. I was unfortunately educated by at least 1 in my under grad gender studies classes in the early 00s which began to cement my trans positive stance.)
ANYWAY I keep ranting and rallying on this stuff bc time and time again TERFs treat me like shit and trans women treat me like sisters. It’s unhinged to see and feel this and watch trans folks face relentless attacks. Anti trans bias and violence dressed up as feminism is fucking wrong. It just is.

And there are people out there right now who think they are feminist who believe that it was a WIN to throw trans women and girl athletes under the bus.
As much of TERFs claim to care about women and girls, their quest to harm transgender women often results in the harassment and hyper-scrutinization of all women, particularly queer women, women of color, intersex women, women with conditions like hirsutism, women who are professional or collegiate athletes, women who are amateur athletes, and any woman who happens to fall outside TERFs’ narrow view of femininity for any reason. Their agenda to oust trans athletes, for example, includes limits on testosterone levels, medical and/or physical tests to determine biological sex, and has effectively shut down conversations about coed sports. They rely on misogynistic, bio-essentialist bullshit to impose their will.
Don’t be swayed by TERF rhetoric. They don’t care about women. They aren’t trying to protect us. They are misogynists who are trying to flood the world with hatred against the transgender community, and they’re willing to sell everyone else, including themselves, down the river to do it.

I've actually seen claims that Kairi has the most aggressive playstyle out of the playable KH3 characters and honestly, I believe it
He’s an astronomy nerd. This is not only evident from his excitement over the meteor shower, but also the fact that he has astronomy books in his room and astronomical symbols on his walls. He also has his own telescope!
He also keeps plants—he appears to be a green thumb. He also has an empty birdcage for some reason? It’s very possible that he found it and thought it was cool and just has it for the aesthetic, but it’d be fun to think he had a bird at some point.
At some point he learned to breakdance—but WHERE??? WHEN???? There’s no way in heck it was Eraqus, so it’s possible he learned during his Union Cross days, which means this is more of a muscle-memory skill to him.
He was probably only around eleven or twelve years old when he became a Union Leader and he was possessed by Darkness and killed Strelitzia.
He was sixteen in Birth By Sleep, which made him the oldest KH protagonist up until that point.
The Keyblade he wields in Union Cross is Missing Ache.
Though his heart was asleep housed within Sora’s throughout his childhood up until KH3, it’s implied that he was semi-conscious the whole time, and it’s possible that he remembers Sora’s adventures.
