Her eyebrows tugged together. She didn’t like suggestions to not take her job seriously, even when they came from Selina. “No?” It didn’t make much sense to her, really; fighting for justice was more than just what she did, it was who she was. And she supposed she was much like Bruce in that way.

“I want to be… mostly.”  

“Well, as long as you want that,” Selina reassured, knowing her own personal desires pushed her to walk on the fine line between good vs evil. Morally grey fit her, for she couldn’t outrun her past or her past deeds. And she wasn’t a hero by any means, either. 

Tim tried not to make a face at being told to go on vacation. Bruce already tried to give him a permanent one, so he was good. Still, he laughs at Selina’s confession and throws up his hands. “I’m not on duty, so as long as no one gets hurt I didn’t see anything.”

“Black Mask?” He asks. He never liked that crime boss, especially after he went after Stephanie. Ugh. Why couldn’t the really bad villains just stay back in the Old Gotham? “Well that’s definitely not good,” He says. “I’m sure Batman is already on it though. And Robin,” he adds, trying and probably failing to not sound bitter.

“I’ll hold you to your word,” Selina replied, smirking. She wasn’t planning on stealing anything tonight, knowing she still had plenty of surveillance to do of the property herself. Besides, there were other matters that called for her attention ; like the return of Roman Sionis. 

“No, it isn’t.” The cat had her own vendetta against him, however, she wasn’t about to make the same mistakes twice. The last time Black Mask caught her snooping around, her close friends and family had paid the ultimate price. “Aren’t you also robin? I don’t know how you all keep track of each other.” Knowing Bruce, he probably had trackers on them somewhere.

“No,” He agrees. “But if it was up to Alfred I would’ve been tucked in bed at a much earlier time.” Out of the family Tim’s pulled the most all nighters. When it comes to the case, sometimes its hard for Tim to focus on anything else, much to his family and friends annoyance.

“I’m taking the night off,” He tells her. “How about yourself? What jewel do you have your eyes set on now?” He asks, the fact that the roof they were on served as a perfect vantage point not something he missed.

“I’m sure Alfred is kept busy in other ways,” Selina noted, crossing her arms. “A house full of masked heroes? He’s probably overdue a vacation or two. You all are.” His next question, however, caused her to grin. “ — oops? You caught me. There’s a new store that’s about to open up soon. I’m merely investigating.” It was better to understand the layout and security before she planned out the whole heist. 

he knew that she had been teasing him, that she didn’t actually think he’d done the things that the rumors were spreading about him. still, it made him stop in his tracks, grapple up to the watchtower, and project himself backwards in a flip to land gracefully behind her. his cape draped over his imposing figure as he approached, reaching forward to grab her by the arm. “i’m sure he’ll thank you for looking out for him.”

his eyes darted over her face, taking in her features from behind her mask - having memorized every inch of her. “looks like the bat’s caught the cat,” he smirked before leaning down and forward to press his lips against hers.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, returning the kiss ; despite all back and forth, the chasing, Selina couldn’t deny that she had a soft spot for both Bruce Wayne and Batman. That, and she clearly enjoyed these playful, romantic rooftop strolls. 

Well, if he had to share this roof with anyone, he wasn’t mad that it was Catwoman. Still, he made sure he was wearing nothing shiny. “I follow curfews as well as you play nice with authorities,” He teases. “Besides I technically don’t have a curfew, being an adult and all that.” He was twenty-one, barely an adult, but still, no curfew laws applied to him. Not like they ever did.

“I don’t think you had much of a bed time either,” she retorted, shaking her head. The brunette had no idea how Bruce managed to raise all these kids ; that, and she clearly preferred cats herself. However, there was something commendable about all them — for they were good while she walked in between areas of grey.

hearing a familiar voice, a small smirk forms across pamela’s face as she turns to look at selina. “long time, no see,” she hums, pausing for a moment to give the fellow siren a once over. “far too long, as far as i’m concerned. how have you been? enjoying the chaos that is ‘new’ gotham’s current state?” she raises a brow. 

“Miss me?” Selina teased, greeting the woman. “There’s usually something to love about the chaos, Isley. The distractions are good for getting away with trouble.” However, with media circus and the newly released hit jobs on specified targets, the cat wasn’t exactly enjoying this anymore. 

“Not if it’s not the real answer,” he replied, “sometimes the story behind a name has a weight to it, right?” he listened as she spoke, obviously giving the shortest version of the story- but it hadn’t been what he expected to hear. Then again, they all had tragic backstories. It seemed to be a staple in their very large family, and the superhero community in general- even the other Titans had tragedy in their pasts.

A small smile crept up his face and he held up his hands, “I thought starting with that would have been a little too blunt,” he admitted, “but that was my next question,” he couldn’t help the curiosity there. He was a trapeze artist in the circus, a performer. So of course he had a facination when others were good at the same thing as him, especially if he could learn something from them, “where’d you learn it? It’s not exactly something you can pick up late in life,” ‘cause she was good.

“In that case, what’s your story?” Selina asked, turning the tables. "You went from wearing bright, stoplight colored costumes to an entirely darker scheme — all of which is an upgrade, by the way.” She couldn’t help but tease him, knowing she’d probably confused him during his youth with the way she managed to slip out of the bat’s grasp many, many times prior. 

It was Tim’s first night in New Gotham. He didn’t want to patrol just yet, he was still trying to figure out his new suit and didn’t want to risk covering uncharted territory until he was a bit more familiar. Instead, he just sat on the ledge of the roof of one of his safe houses, surprised it made it. It was for the better, he wasn’t ready to go back to Wayne Manor just yet…if he was even still welcomed. Instead he just listened to the city night life. If he closed his eyes, the city almost sounded exactly like Gotham. Almost. 

He opened his eyes when he heard someone land on the roof, but he couldn’t make them out yet. “Just star gazing,” He said, keeping his bo staff hidden. “Didn’t know this roof was a hot spot.”

“I’m beginning to think none of you have curfews,” Selina greeted. You’d think after constantly running into one ( or many ) of Bruce’s many kids while prowling out during the nights in Gotham, she wouldn’t be so surprised to find the same events happening all over again ; same encounters, different cities. Of course, that didn’t stop her from engaging in a little conversation because he was right — this rooftop was a hot spot, especially when it gave a vantage view of the high end stores beneath them. 

“there’s nothing wrong with having a strict moral code and guidelines to follow them by.“ bruce responded following up with a grunt. selina was always more flexible in her morality, but she was good. solidly, even if she didn’t always want to admit it. at her retort, a smirk hinted itself at his lips as he watched her leap off - shortly taking off into a run and grapple vault to the next roof himself. “you’re too slow, cat - ” he called down to her, swinging overhead and getting the advantage of being ahead of her. “now you need to catch me.”

Now this was getting interesting, she had to admit. “And here I thought an old dog couldn’t learn new tricks,” Selina teased, chasing after him, since she was anything but slow. “You know, if you want to take my spot, you’ll have to work a lot harder to hide your tracks.” With the rumors spreading around like wildfire about how the city’s billionaires have been, allegedly, hoarding supplies — Selina couldn’t help but have her own concerns on the matter. Namely because she knew Bruce wasn’t capable of such allegations.

Pointedly, Cassandra arched her eyebrows, the motion visible behind the domino version of her mask rather than the full-faced one. She otherwise stayed completely still, but entirely ready to vault forward to the adjoining rooftop and join Selina. Join, or possibly pursue. “I noticed. Long time ago.” Her head tipped, “I can not let you stir them too much.”

“Loosen up, kid,” Selina advised, taking a seat on the rooftop. She’d already done her job, which consisted of scoping out the layout of this new city — from the jewelers to the rich penthouses. There was more to explore, but she’d gotten her fair adventure for the night. Now Catwoman was ready to relax as the night carried onward, the views always being best from these heights. 

exhausted from a long day of work, helena dropped her keys down on the table and collapsed on the sofa. binx brushed passed her legs — purring softly. ‘hey, you.’ she smiled down at the feline before lifting him up into her arms, rubbing his head gently. suddenly, for the 3rd night in a row, there was music BLASTING from the apartment complex across from hers. azure hues rolled back in annoyance — she refused to plug in earbuds to mask the noise again, this was the last straw. sitting up, helena stormed over to the window and yelled out. ‘turn the damn music down!’ the brunette angrily waited for a response. 

Parties. She preferred the elite ones, the ones where socialites splurged on expensive champagne and donned even richer jewels. It was all to show off, to display their abundance of wealth and act as if the outside world wasn’t crumbling from such disparity. Still, such parties, despite their farce, allowed her to get her hands dirty. Too bad no one was hosting grand events with the rise of crime, they were too busy clutching their pearls instead. So Selina opted to wander into another party, one filled with blaring music and flickering lights. There wouldn’t be much here, expect for cash, but it was better than nothing. At least she could buy cat food with it or toys for her own little felines. 

Once she managed to grab a few wallets, and watch, from the drunken crowd, the thief walked outside. The yelling, however, coming from across the building was uncalled for. Normally, she would’ve kept walking . . . except this young lady appeared to be troubled, and she had a weak spot for that. 

“Shouting won’t stop them.”

“Deal,” Selina replied, pleased by the outcome. Normally she wouldn’t have interfered with brawls in broad daylight, but this particular group of felons had been running from a jewelry store. And one of them managed to grab something which she found appealing — a diamond bracelet, one which she stole from their pockets before shoving the culprit against the wall. Now they all lay on across the floor of this alley, hidden in plain sight. 

“am i?“ bruce asked, turning to face the infamous burglar. “isn’t that for me to decide?” he raised a brow from beneath the cowl - a small smirk playing at his lips as he watched her. “the chase, cat? you want me to follow you through the city? it’s not like gotham anymore - you don’t know the city plans like you used to.” he was underestimating her - purposefully, teasingly - and though he shouldn’t get distracted, he was welcoming it.

“Yes, but you’re so predictable with your rules and morals,” Selina teased, glancing back at him. It wasn’t like this was the first time they did this, but it certainly wouldn’t be the last. If anything, a new city made it all the more exciting. “Follow? It’ll be a miracle if you can keep up.” With that, she leaped off the rooftop, landing onto another one a few feet below. He was right though, an unknown city meant having to learn the territory — even if there was a bat after her tail.

“Fair enough,” Dick leaned back in the chair, pondering a question to ask Selina. There weren’t many, really. She and Bruce may have clashed in the mask a lot but it was nothing compared to others in Gotham. He could ask a lot of things, but honestly, her reasons for stealing were probably not his concern. He’d let Bruce interrogate about that kind of thing, “I’ve got to ask,” he began, finally, “what made you pick the cat theme?” it was an honest question and he was genuinely curious, “I gotta know. Was it a love of cats, an aesthetic choice, or just wanting to make the whole cat burgler figure of speech literal?” it was funny that he’d known Selina for all these years, yet he’d never asked her why she picked a cat theme.

Call it a woman’s intuition, but Selina could sense that he had questions ; it would be foolish to not have any, given how they knew each other. She had known him since he was running around in those brightly colored costumes, playing sidekick to the bat. But circumstances, and times, had certainly changed since then. His question, however, caught her attention. Catwoman. There wasn’t much to the name, per say, but the story behind the mask was always more intriguing. 

“I do love cats, feline empathy and all. And it does have a certain flare given my line of work,” she replied, smirking. Cat burglar wasn’t an insult, not to her. Not when she could steal all the riches that the wealthy hoarded. “But that’s not the answer you want, is it?”
