She also addresses other important things in her vlogs like the reflex lots of girls have to apologize for things even when they aren’t your fault and her sister Stacie’s trouble with shyness and a bully and how maybe sometimes it’s best to just walk away from bullies and standing up for your dreams and the dream gap and the harm that “it was just a joke” does.

I love that Adora and Catra’s separate but parallel character arcs are about unlearning toxic ideals and behaviours and finding who they are as people when they’re apart and away from Shadow Weaver, and maybe (hopefully) they can come back together as whole, healed people.

Catra is in so much pain but she’s completely misdirecting her anger, and Adora has basically been gifted the powers of a god and lost her best friend at the same time. They have an unhealthy relationship born from an unhealthy childhood, but when Catra finally begins healing and understanding her pain, they can find each other again and keep the friendship that was buried under all that trauma.

I love She-Ra and I love that the writers are actually acknowledging the real, personality and relationship defining repercussions of childhood trauma.

They’re both hurting in different ways, but they’re not beyond repair. And I can wait to see them repaired.
