Yes, I was tearing through books constantly, and talking to this teacher at least weekly. Because even though I always loved reading as a kid, literature was always a very weak subject for me in terms of a teaching-to-standardized-test school setting (I just do awful on "what color were the curtains" type multiple choice questions. Those details don't stick in my memory THEY JUST DON'T). But that didn't matter for this class. I could just read my way out of any bad test score. I have always had fond memories of how I "fudged" my way through that class and "abused' the extra credit policy.

This is shit behavior from little shit people who have been trained by social media to demand instant gratification.

Go read an entire real paper book. See how long it takes, and imagine how many times longer than that it took to *write*

Go watch a -Network Television- show WITH COMMERCIALS, and only allow yourself to watch one episode per week.

Teach yourselves patience, you little shits.

Start writing yourselves, and see how far you get. See how long it takes you to get to a GOOD, PUBLISH-WORTHY 1,000 words. 5,000 words. 10,000 words. Not rambles, not snippets, and definitely not AI-generated garbage. Real, coherent story telling. It is a labor of love, to go from a concept, to a story. Sometimes, it's not enough to love the story. It doesn't get finished. Interests shift, inspiration dies. That is part of the human experience.

You are NOT Entitled to the rest of a story that was posted for free, for fun. Fuck you. Double fuck you for the audacity of asking the audience "what if I just do it myself lol"

some fanfic writers put as much time, effort and research into their fics as writers who write original works do their books, if not more. (not saying every fanfic writer has to do their research, obviously, because fanfic is a hobby, not a job. but some fanfic writers do insane amounts of research on what they’re writing about, I believe some fic writers put more effort into their fics than writers who write original stories do their books.)

fanfic writers aren’t all children and teenagers either. while children and teenagers can absolutely write fics and while I think it’s super cool that they write at such a young age, a lot of fanfic writers are adults with jobs and responsibilities.

I’ve personally read fanfics that are way more professionally written than some best sellers out there.

whether a piece of writing is a fanfic or an original work has nothing to do with its quality. if anything, I’ll even argue that—while writers who publish original works—write as their careers, for money, fanfic writers literally write completely out of love and passion. there’s no money involved, no capitalism involved, no corporation behind their art. they write for free. without gaining anything in return. because they’re that passionate about the characters and the stories they write about.
