Dominique fell silent, eyes on the pitch while her mind wandered elsewhere. It was always somewhere far away when she was with Cassia ; somewhere happier. Perhaps it was more lost in the past than anything.
( Long ago, their giggles filled the air at this very same spot the pair clutched on to each other and watched with awe and amazement, shining in their bright eyes. )
The prefect’s sudden movement caught her attention, like a butterfly in an net. Dominque’s gaze moved from the scared little first years to her best friend. Formerly, Allison would have been Dominique’s maid of honour. Now, it seemed, Cassia had been promoted by default.
❝Yes, this is getting a little dull.❞
It wasn’t though she felt far too uncomfortable to say she wanted longer. A small smile did hover at the edge of her lips at the nickname and she rose to accompany the brunette. ❝I must say, I’m getting hungry. How about we go raid the kitchens and then study?❞

a sigh, then, wrestles its way out of pressed lips, eyes softening marginally as she takes in her best friend's smile ; one of her own blossoming.
