I forgot to take pictures of the inside, but I worked on this lovely Yamaha MT50 unit for a musician! The play button broke. He requested that I swap it for the pause button since he never uses it.
He bought a cool 80's boombox from me this spring for his wife and bought the little black Radio Shack boombox I worked on at CON for his mom, and he brought this with him to see if I would be interested in helping him with it. I'm glad he did!
Honestly this was a really nice, easy unit to work on! The hardest part was working with the locking clip.
Basically, the buttons are on a metal rod that has a metal clip on the end to hold it in place. This type of clip is commonly referred to as a "jesus" clip because that's what you say when it goes flying off to parts unknown!
Had to grab tiny pliers to get it back on the post.
All things told, took me less than half an hour. Now he'll be able to record his guitar and play it backwards during his show again, hell yeah!
I might calibrate and hold back some of my two sided tape decks to see if he wants to use them for tape duplication too since it sounds like he's working on a project with a friend.
Right now I'm working on sorting out my shit, cleaning up my living space and getting set up to reverse engineer parts to print in nylon. Hopefully I can eventually scan and replace the button itself once I save up and get everything set up!
In the meantime though it's ready to go back into use during his shows! I'm stoked to be able to help honestly!
