I miss childhood so much sometimes that it hurts.
Maybe hurt is not the right word, but there this is sense of wistful longing for the good old days. It is so intense that it is actually capable of destroying my peace and my calm. It is almost as if I woke up one day after a long sleep, and suddenly, everything has changed. Childhood somehow seems like a dream, and the more I live the reality, the vaguer that dream becomes. The more I want to accept that I am no longer twelve, the more overwhelming becomes the yearning.Â
The truth is, I do not want to accept that I am no longer twelve. The truth is, I still want to play the games I played growing up. The truth is, I still want to be oblivious to so many things that I am now made aware of. The truth is, I still want my biggest problem to be not being able to watch my favorite TV show because the power went out.
Screw adulthood, and screw growing up! And screw all of you contemporaries who seem to have it all together.
Truth makes little sense and has no real impact if it is merely a collection of abstract ideas. Truth that is living experience, on the other hand, is challenging, threatening, and transforming. The first kind of truth consists of information collected and added, from a safe distance, to our mental inventory. The second kind involves risking our familiar and coherent interpretation of the world -it is an act of surrender, of complete and embodied cognition that is seeing, feeling, intuiting, and comprehending all at once. Living truth leads us ever more deeply into the unknown territory of what our life is.

Hmm
You hear things like:
“My uncle is an engineer, he makes a lot of money, so I should become an engineer, too”. “My grandparents married into the same religion, same caste, same sub-caste, and so did my parents. They have all been happy. They have had some friction in their marriage, sure, but who hasn’t? So what if I am desperately in love with the gorgeous girl who wears a hijab to class every day? I should marry someone into my religion because my family has, and it has worked out. I don’t know if it will work out with her. Besides, my family would not want it any other way.” “What? So what if I am good at makeup? I cannot do this for a living. It does not pay much.” “Oh this job is everything I ever wanted, but it’s in Paris. It is a completely different place, and I do not know anyone there. Besides, with all the killings that has been happening, it’s scary to move out there.”Â
You know, they say not to do things if you are hesitant about it for whatever reason. They say if you are not wholeheartedly in the decision you have just made, step back and snap out of it. They say if it does not make you happy, don’t do it. My question: how do you grow then? If you always seek for comfort in the things you decide to do and the things you end up doing, how will you ever achieve the maturity, the growth that you run after so much, the growth that you advocate so highly for?Â
Your heart is not going to magically want to take that leap of faith just because. No one wants to be uncomfortable doing anything, everyone wants things done their way. Something you have grown up seeing, something so much from the ordinary and from the norm that you don’t want to do things differently. Because you have seen successes happen that way. You are so used to seeing things happen in a certain pattern that you are not ready to accept and adapt into newer things you may or may not have seen on the TV. Because it is all just fiction after all. And when it is time to choose, you fluster, you resist. You criticize the abnormality, you don’t understand it, you don’t relate with it. You think it will not make you happy. You fear. You dread things. You stop growing. You stop living.Â
Take a moment. Realize how far you have come. Think about how much the world has progressed.Think about how much the human mind has evolved. Think about the technological advancements that have come about. You have a mind of your own. It means you can think. You can analyze things, and you can form a conclusion of your own, independent of any worldly influences. You have your own purpose, and you have your own goals. It does not matter if you haven’t yet figured out what they are. Explore yourself, go to places, and try different things. The world is your oyster! Stop fearing being different. Stop fearing living your passion. Stop restricting your growth. Like Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” If you really wish people stopped creating barriers in the name of caste, creed and religion, if you really wish people stopped being a bandwagon and started following their hearts and minds, begin with yourself, and teach your people so. Fight the resistance there may be, stand on the grounds of your beliefs, your principles and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Don’t always seek comfort in the decisions you make. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Life is not always fair, you don’t always get what you want. You make the best of what you get. You work your way through life, you gain experiences, you win, you lose, you learn, and you grow.
Unless you’re winning, most of life will seem hideously unfair to you.
Five things:
1. Own your own happiness.
2. Challenge your story.
3. Enjoy the journey.
4. Make relationships count.
5. Balance work with play.

“Jaau harau, khusi ma tripta timi timilai nai paau
herana aafulai timi
kati bhayo khulera haseko?
kati bhayo nirdhakka bacheko?”
I have realized how much it is necessary to constantly check with your own identity. It hurts when your dreams and hopes don’t make it, yes, but what hurts the most is when you lose your identity. It is when you cannot identify with yourself, when you constantly question yourself and are not happy with the decisions you have made, it is then when you lose yourself. If you do not let go of what it is that caused it all, you will never be happy no matter how much everyone around tries to make you. No matter what you’re given or where you are taken, if you cannot find the happiness within yourself, you have defeated the purpose of your living. And trust me, that is the worst way of living.Â
So let go! Live life to its fullest content. Live life with no regrets and no restraints. Life is gonna throw all kinds of crap at you - the good and the bad. What matters is how well are you prepared for it. Let go of everything that causes you pain, that causes you to doubt yourself and your decisions. Practice it so much that when life takes it all away from you again, you would not be budged. You would have seen it coming, you would have wanted it and you would have been strong enough to withstand it.Â
Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all we really have. It is the very last inch of us, but within that inch, we are free.
V for Vandetta
“It's not what you do that makes you special, but all the crap you don't do.“
I have never had anyone describe me like this before. Again, adding to the things people say to me that makes me feel good about myself, this one’s certainly special.Â
Is there really no conversation beyond what the ex said or did and who they were seen with? Nothing beyond constant and going-around-in-circles arguments with that one person, gossips, rumors, and getting mad at one another for the most irrelevant things that will only cause flooding of texts and messages distracting you from something that mattered?
Why aren't there more conversations about aims, achievements, dreams, hopes, plans, aspirations, songs, movies, art, morals, the world, the universe, or science? Why don't people talk more about things like what Einstein meant when he said, “Science without religions is lame, religion without science is blind”, if he was an atheist or a pantheist, concepts he agreed and disagreed with, and if you concur with it? Do people talk about travelling and exploring places anymore? Adventures?  Where are the people who love to sing on the top of their lungs even if they did not have the best voices, or the people who will sway their hips and move their heads readily when the music plays?

“Not every branch of science can foretell the future — paleontology can’t — but many can and with stunning accuracy. If you want to know when the next eclipse of the Sun will be, you might try magicians or mystics, but you’ll do much better with scientists. They will tell you where on Earth to stand, when you have to be there, and whether it will be a partial eclipse, a total eclipse, or an annular eclipse. They can routinely predict a solar eclipse, to the minute, a millennium in advance. You can go to the witch doctor to lift the spell that causes your pernicious anaemia, or you can take vitamin Bl2. If you want to save your child from polio, you can pray or you can inoculate. If you’re interested in the sex of your unborn child, you can consult plumb-bob danglers all you want (left-right, a boy; forward-back, a girl – or maybe it’s the other way around), but they’ll be right, on average, only one time in two. If you want real accuracy (here, 99 per cent accuracy), try amniocentesis and sonograms. Try science.”Â
Change
Attending UCSD was exactly the transition I needed in my life. I needed to get away from all the pointless conversations about pointless issues. I needed to get out of the boring schedule that I had set for myself. I needed to find myself and know myself better, things I do and do not like, companies that I do and do not enjoy, conversations that I do and do not want to be a part of, the person I am outside of being “such a good friend”, “the sweetest or the nicest person” or someone who always stood there listening to you and told you how pretty you were - I needed to experience the change. This school has somehow made it possible for me to narrow down the things I care about into one slim list of about four to five things. The stuff outside of this list, I do not have the time, the desire, the energy or the need to deal with.Â
