I didn’t fully get their dynamic until read a good Schuster x Richtofen fic, but even though people have made some good stuff of them, it’s still not my thing. Partially because I like them better as just good friends and partially because Dr. Schuster (as far as I am concerned) does not have any canon facial features which takes out a lot of fun for me as I am a very visual person. I still like seeing content of them though and I totally see the appeal.

Also do you have any songs that remind you of them? I’m trying to make a playlist and it would be greatly appreciated if you helped me make an addition or two!

Okay so I was going to make a little 4-6 panel comic for this but its hard for me to think of something that encompasses a lot of what I’m about to say in such a short time. Sorry I’m gonna ramble so I can get my ideas out super quick. It’s also been a minute since I’ve talked about them so this might be slightly scuffed.

Once they both get into some sort of established relationship/situationship most main conflicts come from when one does something the other does not like in a non-teasing way. They are able to make up sometimes but both Richtofens are such assholes that it’s not as common as one would think. Teasing is incredibly common for them but when they accidentally or purposefully upset the other they either break into a verbal fight or distance themselves for a little while. It’s not just because they are just that upset that they react in those ways, both of them still suffer from paranoia for different reasons and so when the other does something off, their alarm bells in their brain go off before they can even think.

They trust each other with basically everything other than leading or assisting with the group. Personal stuff is uncomfy to talk about at first and they have to ease themselves into the idea that it’s okay because they are the same person. Plus they are not only the same person but also lovers at some point (if that’s what one would call them?). It’s just when an inciting incident makes them remember the fact that they think they are incredibly intelligent and bad people, they start to doubt the other. For this same reason they also have on and off communication based on how they are feeling about each other in the moment. They go back and forth from “I’m desperate, I don’t care that much, what could he really do to me, we are going to die anyways, I may never get this chance again, I’m smart too so I can thwart him if he tries something, he may not even try anything against me because he knows we are almost equal” to “I know I’m insanely clever and he could be even more because of his age/my mental state, is he planning something, would he take advantage of me, would I take advantage of him, would he try to get back at me, would I be jealous if he moved on with someone else, are our end goals comprisable or will he fuck me/us over in the end.” Ong if they weren’t being freaky so often this relationship would be giving the both of them new wrinkles and gray(er) hair.

A while ago I was in the process of making a comic where they argued, then decided to wrestle/physically fight and then freaked it on the ground (ingenious, I know). The reason I didn’t finish it and don’t plan on finishing it is because of how long I think their arguments would go on for. Without someone to break them up I just kept writing and there was constantly a rebuttal from both sides. Eventually I did reach the part where they fought and freaked but the argument they had could make up a full comic/fanfic and I don’t want to make that many panels for something so minimal. I tried re-writing the argument twice and it is still super long. Either I need to figure out a way to get my shit together and write shorter or get a second opinion. I was thinking that maybe Primis Richtofen would go silent for a portion of their arguement to make it shorter but I can’t imagine him not wanting to defend himself against and provoke Ultimis Richtofen.
