Everything is pretty much the same except Grace is de-aged from the get go. So actually- Everything is not the same at all. Just a shameless excuse to have Rocky be the rational adult of the duo. (They already were but don’t tell Grace that-)

A lot more angst potential here cuz even Ryland remembering is like looking at himself through a funhouse mirror. Haha.

Anyways. I love them and I have a couple plans to do with this au in particular- Seeing that I don’t have every little detail quite yet. I guess I’m a sucker for found family. I love their dynamic sm and as always, I love to make my favorite characters suffer emotionally.

Also- Forgive my handwriting but I can’t be bothered to rewrite everything again for legibility. Use context clues I guess? Be a rudimentary linguist like Grace had to be in the movie idk. (I’m just kidding.)

Rocky is almost entirely covered in brown. He only has little spots of teal poking out.

Both book and movie wise he was the first to reach out, despite the fact that he didn’t know jack shit about humanity at that time. He sent out two messages and even was the one that created the bridge.

I think that’s it the loneliness, you know? Because at that point both of them have been alone. Rocky for 40+ years, Grace for not as long but being alone and having to bury your crewmates and having the knowledge you’re on a suicide mission all alone in space is pretty damn lonely.
