                      THE SMIRK SAYS IT ALL  ——  she doesn’t believe him which, to any rational being that is not chloe,  would be a clear moment to just let him walk away before he gets too involved.   but she saw something in him,  something she’s only seen in a mirror  ;  a desire for more. to prove himself. a taste for adrenaline.    so instead of giving him an out  (  which she did when she first demanded of asked him to join her. kinda.  )     she nudges his shoulder with one blunt, long finger.     “  nah,  museum guards don’t shoot to kill. not these at least. besides  —  ”  a wide gesture towards the cluttered table.  they’re in a hotel room,  her hotel room to be precise,  now littered with charts and books and the occasional empty cup of coffee.     “  we got their schedule and pattern. it’ll be easier than robbing a baby.  ”
