Keeping the show’s timeline, if rizzles became canon, when do you think a kiss would have happened?
Well the thing that is so stupid about this stupid fucking show is that there are a dozen episodes that could conceivably and believably end with them kissing. The format of this show and their relationship is precisely the same as that of a show with a male and female protagonist who are eventually going to get together. Besides the fact that one of them isn’t a man, what distinguishes their relationship from the one in Bones? Castle? The Mentalist? The X-Files? Nothing! If anything they’re even more intertwined than some of those pairings.
But to actually answer your question, the most narratively correct and impactful moment for them to realize their feelings for each other is after the infirmary. All the parts are there. It’s a conclusion to the story arc we are introduced to in the very first episode, the same villain that brings Jane to Maura’s doorstep for the first time, and who we have been told now for one and a half seasons likes to rape the wife before he kills the husband, and then he tells Jane he’s going to finish what he started but oh, not before he assaults Maura. GOD WHAT COULD THAT POSSIBLY MEAN. You can of course read my take on what would happen in The Other Side of This Wide Night.
If you want to suggest instead that the moment in the infirmary instead only makes Jane realize her feelings but she is still too afraid to do anything about them, because the MO of many of these shows is to drag that shit out until a later season, the second most compelling time for them to reveal their feelings to each other is probably the bridge jump.
