We hear of a couple that is unwed and are raising children involved in a car wreck, we mourn.
We see a 'moral' atheist die of a heart attack, we grieve.
We hear of a gunman going into a theatre to kill dozens, we're devastated as a nation.
We see that a reality TV star is shot in front of fans and her older brother, we're moved to tears.
- but when a nightclub gets shot up and 50 people- fifty souls, likely lost, are slaughtered, what happens? People, who profess to know the Lord, insinuate that this group, those involved in a specific sin that they don't themselves find alluring, deserve what they got.
You know what? All of us deserve to be shot and much worse. We deserve the righteous wrath of a holy God. We deserve infinitely greater than what "they had coming to them."
We level sins and play the role of judge. We are self righteous, wretched people. Every single one of us would be involved in murder, stealing, homosexuality, beastiality, pedophilia, YOU NAME IT, if not for His restraining grace.
How dare we stick our noses up at hurting people? How dare we act like we're even an iota better than them? How dare we not love our neighbors as we love ourselves? How dare we not mourn with those who mourn? We blaspheme His name when we act like this. This is not of Christ. I am ashamed of the representation of Christ so many will get because of the nonsense being spoken right now.
Repent of your unbrokenness for His creation and this tragedy. Remember and think heavily on truth- We are all guilty. We all deserve the wrath of God. We, if we are in Christ, are only so because of HIS grace; no one may boast. Quit your boasting and pride. Grieve with your neighbors and pray that the Lord would save those who may still repent.
