Tacos Casa is one of the food vendors at the Altadena Farmer’s Market on Thursdays. It had the longest line when I visited once. The woman-owned business started in 2015, with the goal of providing authentic Mexican cuisine based on traditional recipes. They make their own corn tortillas. It seems like the food is cooked to order, so expect to wait a few minutes.

The menu includes tacos, huaraches, mulitas, gorditas, tortas, quesadillas, pambazo, burritos, sopes, etc.

Mulitas ($7): Sandwiched tortillas filled with mozzarella, meat or veggie filling of choice, and guacamole. I chose the mushroom and epazote filling. I was expecting one mulita and was pleasantly surprised to receive two mulitas. The corn tortillas were handmade and they were generous with the filling – sauteed mushrooms, onions, epazote (a Mexican herb), a smooth guacamole, tomatoes, and mozz. It was tasty but simple/homestyle. Also, it tasted healthy (little grease). The salsa was pretty sour. I’m used to greasier mulitas.

Lemonade ($5): nice and tangy

The breakfast menu items are not available at the Farmer’s Market but you can get them at the Café De Leche pop-up on Thursdays and Sundays.
