Junia and Reynauld lowkey both suffer from religious scrupulosity but deal with it in such opposing ways.
And while we're at it, Reynauld deadass has a messiah complex that is a manifestation of his religious scrupulosity (imo).
Junia has so many barks regarding how pure she is and how everyone is out to tarnish her purity, even just by glancing at her?
She even claims that brushing past her while walking or accidentally touching her means you want to take her virginity or something sexual in nature.
That's not rational thinking, even for a cloistered Vestal standards,,
It's extremely disappointing how dd2 basically removed this debilitating mental conflict she deals with. Instead they opted for her to have already had a revelation of sorts where she recognised that love and sexuality is nothing to be ashamed about.
To me, dd2 Junia seems more like dd1 Junia after working through her religious scrupulosity. She still has hiccups sometimes but that's to be expected cuz progress isn't linear, there'll always be bumps along the way.
But that doesn't really make sense cuz dd2 isn't a continuation of dd1. It's an alternate universe which moreso feels like a cop out way to retcon the heroes backstories when they didn't need to be retconned? Maybe edited a bit but not so heavily rewritten like damn,,
