((So, big news the first update back! Proto the experimental cyber changeling finally hatches and Brainy and Carapace are now engaged! Exciting stuff! This was actually meant to happen MONTHS AGO, but my art block hit before it could happen. But now it has! I hope this makes up for the wait! I’ll have more stuff up next week!))

Okay, so this is where I make it official: I'm discontinuing my Rainbowverse blogs as an ongoing thing. Probably obvious based on not updating for four months and the rest of these blogs in the universe also being quiet, but there it is.

This doesn't mean I'm never doing anything else with the characters though, just that this live-updating real time format tied to liveblogging a webcomic isn't cutting it for me anymore. Indeed, as you can see here, Carapace is continuing to be a character on Brainy Twilight's blog, and I am involved in ideas for her, Proto and other members of supporting cast who are my characters who may come up along the way.

So, I recommend that if you enjoyed this blog and aren't already following Brainy Twilight- Unlikely as that blog is far more tumblr famous than mine has ever been- Go follow that. It's better than mine ever was: Quality artwork and a more flexible format. Can't recommend it enough.

I guess I'll notify here if I decide to actively do something else with this set of characters, but for now, goodbye. It's been fun. A good experience in writing dialogue that's put me in contact with some great friends along the way.

If Proto's part-pony and part-Changeling, what parts are we talking about exactly? If you fed Proto Royal Jelly, would Proto be able to turn into a half-Changeling Queen? Will Proto have advanced magical ability because Brainy was a unicorn, or perhaps be as strong as an Alicorn one day thanks to science and what nearly every other Twilight Sparkle has gone through in other worlds?

We’re all just assuming a hybrid here then? The purpose of the initial experiment, which admittedly has now become an exercise in child rearing, was to create a new form of changeling.

Anyway yes, the queen gene is in there, amongst a few other things I made sure to add...

How long will it take before Proto is converting a mother's love into Changeling food, and what will you be feeding Proto until then?

I started developing artificial croach after the roughly four seconds it took to realise how incredibly awkward asking Khepri for some of the croach her body naturally produces as a Queen would be, even if she is just throwing it away right now.
