Talking purely software and OS: If your main concern is gaming, SteamOS is genuinely one of the best choices assuming you are okay with the occasional bit of tinkering and researching how to do specific stuff online if you ever run into an edge case. It has a ton of customizability and the only real major downside is that there are a selection of games which require a level of anti-cheat that Linux is not currently permitted to translate through Proton, which is how a vast majority of games run on SteamOS/Linus to begin with. The games that tend to not work are usually limited to modern online games like your Call of Duty's and your Destiny's and your Fortnite's. But otherwise the overall performance benefits, lack of bloat, severence from Microsoft entirely, and wide community support are incredible benefits. And if push REALLY comes to shove and you absolutely require windows for something, it is fully possible to install Windows on the system as a separate bootable partition or just replace the OS with it altogether. But I wouldn't personally recommend the Steam Machine if you don't intend to use SteamOS haha, there are more sensible options for sure.

The common consensus as of ch4 was that Berdly saw the world as his personal dating sim, with the girls and Kris as his potential love interests.

And this isn’t entirely wrong, as his brief appearance in ch5 aligns with the idea of a typical dating sim before Noelle and Susie set him straight on the fact they aren’t straight.

But what Berdly’s doing isn’t exactly your typical generic dating sim MC boy behavior… it’s something far more confusing.

To start with, here’s this line from ch4.

I don’t know how else to convey what I mean, so cue the Miles Edgeworth again.

If you still don’t get it… Berdly is the one asking for someone else to be his support.

So that’s not a pickup line.

That's a cry for help.

This would normally be just another instance of Berdly unintentionally describing someone else in a way that fits him far better (see also: “a poor girl with no one to show her exclusive tips and tricks”, “so tsundere and confusing”, “heart beeping for love”, etc.)

But wait, there’s more!

If you accept the festival invite and continue this over in ch5, Berdly sets up the event so that the lover that impresses him the most would be the date.

That… isn’t something a self insert protag does. That’s something the girl they are trying to woo does.

I don’t think Berdly realizes it yet, but the second his dating sim view of relationships gets reinforced, he starts placing himself in the position of the girl you are trying to date, not the MC.

You probably don’t notice it in the moment because you’re more likely to assume Berdly sees himself as the MC boy of the dating sim, considering it’s him plus the girls, and also Kris.

But by having him as the one you’re supposed to impress, he’s placed Kris, Noelle and Susie where the MC would be…

which is exactly what ends up happening within the Pink battle (with Ralsei there ofc)

…meaning Berdly is the Mew Mew in this situation.

And please note that not only does Berdly reference the Doki mechanic of the Pink battle, and being “a puppet monarchy who promotes the love of two girls”, but the Hatsune Miku vocals of the battle heavily allude to the weird route.

Oh, and the Switch trailer initially features Mew Mew frozen in an iceberg.

In conclusion, let me restate my point:

Obviously, the goal of this experiment is to grow the lobsters until they’re big enough to settle to the seabed and then release them, because they have a much higher likelihood of surviving to adulthood when they’re able to hide. Ideally, captive lobster hatcheries can boost the wild population and keep things stable, so we don’t have a major crash in a decade or two.

The first year we tried this was pretty bad. We had a lot of eggs, but very few babies. It turned out that the CO2 levels in the building spiked as more guests visited throughout the summer, and that settled into the water and threw off the pH and caused a chemical reaction that prevented a lot of the eggs from hatching. I think we ended up releasing three baby lobsters (which is still better than their wild survival rate but not great).

The second year was a little better. We added a de-gasser to the aquarium and got a ton of larval lobsters, but right as they were settling to the bottom we had a disease outbreak that killed most of them. We ended up releasing four babies at the end of the season.

But this year? Oh boy. We have so many lobsters that we had to release the first round early (usually we wait till September or October so guests can see them). We just released a total of FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE baby lobsters, and we still have over a hundred who haven’t settled to the bottom yet. I genuinely don’t even have words to explain how cool this is. OVER FIVE HUNDRED. We just added hundreds of lobsters to the wild population that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.
