they were going to kill their little sister. like, legitimately. they shouldn’t have written love letters to people they’d loved, and maybe they shouldn’t have kept them all, but their little sister really shouldn’t have mailed them. unfortunately, though, there was no getting around that, or the fact that one of the people who’d gotten a letter (the one from sixth grade, if they remembered correctly) was standing in front of their door. “um. hey, hi. it’s been a while! can i help with something?”

“Okay. Okay! I’ll try, but you have to promise me that if I fall on my behind, you have to pretend you didn’t see a thing.” She couldn’t resist his enthusiasm, or that smile, but she was more than a little nervous when she agreed. If she fell, she’d really have to be careful about the words that left her mouth ⁠— the kids did not need to hear her swear, ever. “Your move, Mister Expert! Find a pair of skates for me. I’m a size 6 women’s shoe. Oh, and, um. I’m Liv!”

“listen! yes, but, he brought me a bouquet of irises to make up for it and swore up and down he was just a flirty person!” laila is right -- of course she is, she almost always is, but katy’s loathe to admit anything of the sort. her rose coloured glasses are strong, always have been, and while they’ve lead her into more than a few sticky situations, she doesn’t regret any of the heartbreak. “i mean, we lasted for a few months! i felt like it was going well, until it wasn’t. or at least i think it was going well...”
