âYeah, yeah Iâm okay,â he replied with a nod and took a deep breath. The weeks after the ball felt like a blur. He was doing his best to stick with his routine. Work in the morning, lunch with Reagan, and Jaxson if he felt like stopping by. Heâd spend the afternoon doing chores around the house, his shift at the gas station and then dinner with his family so that heâd be in his house way before curfew. Some nights his kids would come over and watch a movie, do school work or just check in on him. Other days they would avoid it, knowing he was probably spending time with Bella and he didnât know how to bridge that gap. Not to mention he was trying desperately to mend his connection with Kalani and it was like talking to a wall. She was angry, understandably so, but he didnât want to waste the rest of his life, their kids life, being mad at each other. âFamily, is..complicated,â he concluded and shrugged, eyes widening as Harrison revealed what was going on with him. âComplicated is definitely a way to put it. I mean..is she single?â Devon smile softly and shrugged again. âI mean if she is then thatâs much less complicated.â
He nodded, hoping that was true. There had once been a time when he believed anything people told him. Despite the life he lived, he didnât think that most people had reason to lie. Thirty years it had taken for him to realise that was a naive way to look at the world. People lied, cheated, did whatever they wanted with no regard to anyone else. Of course he didnât think that was what Devon was doing, he just now knew better then to assume. For the manâs sake, he did hope that was true. âAlways has beenâ he had always had issues. As a child heâd had to put up with his parents never being around. Though he supposed now he was repaying them by not contacting them, and staying far away. He saw no reason to do it. They had abandoned his kids. He could forgive his siblings for it, but not his parents, never them. âShe is, which is one of the few positive sidesâ it wasnât that he didnât like the woman, he did which was more of the problem. âAnd seems more like Iâm using her to see my daughter, which isnât the case. Sheâs been more than fair about that. None of this is easyâ not when this was never meant to have happen. They thought he was dead.Â
âGhosts are real⌠This much I know.â
thalia-nasriâ:
âAnd of all places youâre here,â she added with a softer laugh, still unable to believe he was standing right in front of her. âHavenât aged a bit,â she added with a wink, resisting her urge to reach up and touch his face. âWell, if itâs not a bother, maybe we can have coffee? E-either now or later, Iâd..love to catch up. Genuinely so, I know people say that all the time but I..mean it.â She felt that familiar tug on her heart, the same one she felt the night she had found Cassandra bloody and bruised, as if the universe was sending her a sign that this person too, needed love and care. But she also had the sense that this one, would be different, and potentially more difficult. âDoes that work for you?â
âFamily connectionâ a weak one maybe, but then he wasnât sure how close he was to any of his family anymore. Everything had become so complicated, and he didnât know how to fix it at this point. âIâd hope notâ he knew too well he had, probably even looked older then he was. Stress was a bugger really. âSure, coffee sounds great. Though I donât know how much Iâd have to shareâ if only because he couldnât remember what she had known about him, or even how much she would remember. His situation was too difficult to explain, and he wasnât sure he wanted to either. âI mean, you know what my job was, that only ended recentlyâ in a sense.Â
michaelandrewsxxâ:
âPeople in this town gossip.â Hell, some people did it like it was their day job and more gossip came with alcohol in their systems. âNo surprise people make gossip at the Guesthouse, same as at the bars.â Sort of like they were doing, though about no one in particular. âIt happens, itâs been this way my entire life.â He chuckled with the slow shake of his head and he lifted his beer to his lips. âA lot of books. Mikki, not sure if youâve met her, but sheâs been getting me a lot of second hand books for Dallas so we can read to her. Iâve even found this little retro Barbie Jeep for her to use in the yard. Itâs got lights and music. I think sheâs going to get a kick out of it.âÂ
âPeople everywhere gossipâ he replied with a shrug. Part of growing up in hotels was how used to that he had got. Annoying as it might be, he didnât think it was something this town alone could claim. âMmm, family or old friends come to visit. People... catch upâ and he had heard more than he wanted to. Mostly he tried to ignore it. Wouldnât do anyone any good if he listened, or worse repeated it to anyone. âNot sure, I go to the book shop a lot. Lucky kid though, those sound like the things Iâd have wanted growing up... well maybe not quite the Barbie Jeep, but a Jeep nonethelessâ.Â

michaelandrewsxxâ:
âRight,â he nodded his head. It wouldnât be that easy - he knew that. But, he sure as hell would try to protect Dallas as much as he could. His daughter was everything to him and he wouldnât be able to stand her being hurt. He knew her first love would come and shatter her heart and Michael would do his damn best to pick up the pieces for her. âI did hear some horrors, but not as many as I would have expected honestly.â His shoulders lifted in a shrug. âThough, Iâm a little selfish in being glad that my night wasnât a horror show, honestly.â They have had enough of those to last a lifetime; at least thatâs what it felt like. âIt feels like itâs flying by for me.â Michael admitted to Harrison with a small smile. âI did already get Dallas a few gifts for Christmas. I canât help myself,â he shook his head with the words coming from his mouth, âSure she already has a lot, but sheâs our only daughter. Spoiling her is all I know.â
Perhaps his coping methods when it came to this was wrong. He could just admit that he had a daughter, that he knew how hard it was. But that would be too simple, and it wasnât something he was prepared to explain just yet. Losing a child was hard enough, but these circumstances? Impossible to explain to anyone, but the reality he had to face. Learning to get over something like this was hard enough as it was. âI ignored them, but people gossipâ and at The Guesthouse he heard them a lot. âSuppose it just depends on what happened i suppose, moving makes everything spread outâ it wasnât quite that simple, but it was a public explanation if nothing else. âSheâs a lucky kid. Not everyone gets such loving parents. What did you get her?â
michaelandrewsxxâ:
Michael nodded his head, âIsnât that the truth. Media expectations are out of control.â He shook his head, letting out a heavy sigh. âIâm raising a little girl. I honestly want to protect her from all of it.â If Dallas ever questioned her self worth or self image based on seeing television commercials or instagram feeds, his heart would be broken. His young girl was the light of his life. âI know, itâs impossible to protect kids from everything, but raising a little girl?â Michaelâs head shook again, laughing lowly. âItâs hard enough without all the added pressure from the media. âI wouldnât say second wedding day,â he laughed a bit softer this time, âBut it was a magical night. Good for the both of us to get out of our heads for a while.â And their own personal issues. âThat will be nice. Holidays are coming up way too fast. I canât believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner.â Michael shook his head. âThis year is flying by.â
âI canât imagineâ least when he had been around it had never seemed as bad as all this. Maybe that was the only thing Louise had got right, or maybe the woman had been too hard on Madison for her to care. He didnât know, and he likely never would. He could hardly ask her now, it would be too cruel. âFor now he just had to keep quiet and hope that wasnât the case. âGuess all you can do is assure her sheâs perfect as she is, and that even those girls donât look like that... right?â what the man actually did was up to him, perhaps he just saw the world in a slightly different way. âSeemed a lot of people had a magical night... although in some cases it was more horror magic than fairytaleâ he had heard enough stories about it, it almost made what he had done sound tame. Really it was on the grand scale, but for them... it was complicated. âHas it? Honestly Iâm not sure any have gone on for this longâ or perhaps that was because he had been captured for the first part of it. Locked in a room staring at a wall. Time seemed to have stopped.Â
franmellinaâ:
âSheâs really good at it so far,â Fran added, beaming with pride. She was quiet as she listened to Harrison try to explain what happened, and though Bree didnât question what he said, she couldnât help but wonder how in the world she could try and help someone who has lost so much. âSheâs a big fan of Peter Pan,â she murmured, watching Bree light up at the mention of it, even though it meant something completely different. âSweetie, can you please get us some napkins?â Fran asked before Bree could ask a question. âSo howâs work going for you?â Fran asked in a way to stray from the sensitive topic before taking a bite from her food. She knew Bree would interject with a question if she had any throughout the course of the meal, but for now, Fran watched as her daughter put the napkins on the table and sat back down, relieved to see that Bree seemed to be contented in just stuffing her face with the food, though Fran knew thereâd be an onslaught of questions later on. âAnything remotely interesting going on with you because I think this town is lulling me into a slumber,â she jokingly said.Â
âItâs a good thing to be a fan ofâ he agreed, not wanting to say it was fiction after what he had just said. It was a slightly nicer way to explain what had happened then to be blunt. Lying never worked with children, this was just a happier version. âThe Guesthouse? Nothing all that interesting. A lot of bookings for Christmas at least, but right now itâs quiet. Iâm sure yours is more interestingâ he knew it was a change of topic, but really he was welcome for it. He was still trying to process what had happened, and whilst he knew he was meant to talk about it with others, it was just that meant being vulnerable around people and he was finding that next to impossible. He could have snorted at that, possibly not the best response though. âWell... I slept with the woman who adopted my daughter. So... great life choices thereâ and he still wasnât sure how to handle it, or if she even wanted to look at him.Â
michaelandrewsxxâ:
âKeeping fit is important,â he laughed, his gaze moving to his stomach and patting it. He was still in shape but if he kept up his drinking, he was going to lose what he had worked so hard to get. âKidding, no gut yet. But, if Iâm not careful this old age is going to catch up with me.â Michael laughed again with the shake of his head. âIt was fun.â Once upon a time, though they werenât always the best decisions in life. âIt was a bit dream like. Had to keep pinching myself to make sure it was even happening.â His laughter remained light and airy. Talking with Harrison was keeping him in good spirits. And it was nice to just bullshit with someone. Anyone really. âThe Guest House picking up in any business this time of year?â
He laughed softly at that, he had spent some time worrying he was losing his own fitness, but locked in a room with nothing to do he had found himself trying to work out. Not easy when he was hungry, and often injured. But he had to do something. âI think youâre doing just fine. The media just likes to show us people who spend their life in the gym and are then photoshopped, so nothing looks good enoughâ he had long since accepted that. He was happy enough with his own appearance. Well... he was as long as he was clothed. Anything else worried him. âSounds like a second wedding day described like thatâ he wasnât even sure he had even been that happy on his own wedding day. The day the kids were born he had been. The day he was freed he had been. âIâm glad you had a good time thoughâ and donât think about his own day. âNot really, although some bookings for the end of the year coming through at leastâ.Â
michaelandrewsxxâ:
âHigh school was easier for me. Not that I was playing, usually smoking or drinking under the bleachers. Whatever other bullshit I got into growing up.â He chuckled. Michael had not been on the best path growing up. More so after the divorce of his parents, Michael took a turn for the worse. âBut I was always at the games, ought to count for something, right?â He chuckled again, âDidnât most of us drink too much? Thatâs what the get for hosting an open bar like that. It was bound to cause problems.â Though, Michael had been on his better behavior. He and Quinn were having the time of their lives. They had got lost in one another. âI enjoyed it. Quinn and I got some much needed time together. A lot going on around town and with her brother back, it was nice to just get time for us.â He smiled, thinking back on that night. It had been the best they had been in a long time. Even after their talk - he was honestly surprised at how well everything well.Â
âOh I didnât play competitively, just to keep fit. Sounds like you had more fun thoughâ he didnât regret how he had spent his time, but part of him wondered what would have happened if things had been different. Not something that could ever come to pass, but sometimes his mind wandered. A bad habit from solitary. âDefinitely does. Although we never had a choice at mineâ he didnât mind it, it was social and once upon a time he had been a social butterfly. âThatâs true, most of what Iâve heard doesnât like anything was too badâ though he had only been half paying attention. He should work on it. âThat sounds like the dream then. Suppose it was a way to go out in style as wellâ though he wasnât about to mention that he did know her brother. Their conversations had been deep, it was difficult to explain.Â

devon--reynoldsâ:
âHey, you busy?â When Harrison spoke to him, he smiled and slid into the seat across from him, grateful to have spotted him. âHectic is definitely a word for it, yeah. More like..a pain in the ass,â he added and ran his fingers back through his hair. âHad a little..fall off the wagon moment,â he admitted, meeting Harrisonâs eyes for a moment before looking at his hands, âAnd uh this week in bizzarre news, I have a brother.â He let out a soft laugh and shook his head, âNever a dull day in Edenâs, my man. What you got going on? Things hectic for you too?â
For a moment Harrison was silent. It wasnât really something he had ever had to face, and whilst he always believed in treating people with kindness, he wasnât sure what the best approach there was. âShit, Iâm sorry. Everything ok?â well he knew enough to know that there would be a reason for that happening. âA brother?â usually he figured that would be normal news, but given the wording, he was assuming it was more then it sounded. âWell... I slept with the woman who adopted my daughter. Not sure if thatâs hectic or just complicatedâ.Â
michaelandrewsxxâ:
Michael nodded his head, âThatâs fair. It is hard to keep up with them. I had better luck with them when I was in high school.â And that didnât count for much. He had been too busy getting into fights, working or running around town late at night with a crowd of people he shouldnât have been. âI try but mostly just checkinâ scores on my phone at the end of the night.â He shrugged his shoulders. âIt makes great background noise when I canât make it through a whole game for some reason.â He smiled over at Harrison, ordering himself another before as he turned to sip on the rest of his. âYou make it out to the masquerade ball?â He asked with a smile, âQuinn and I got to go. Tell ya, for a small town they know how to throw one hell of a party.âÂ
âNot sure I kept up in high school either. Their sports teams were hard enough, let alone the professional onesâ and then there was his first relationship, alongside studying. Part of him now wished he had never met Louise, but then heâd have never have had his kids, and how could he ever regret them? He loved them more than anything, but he was aware things should have been different. He should have been better. âMakes sense, whenever I have tried to watch it, I just end up getting boredâ and he wanted to pretend otherwise, but his attention span was all over the place. âI did, though I hid outside for a lot of it. Too much for me in the end. Though probably drank too muchâ and he hated that, but it had happened, and there was little he could do now. âIt was quite the event. Did you enjoy it?âÂ
beccareynoldsâ:
Becca knew many of Quinnâs friends, though there were some she had yet to meet. Names she could remember, but faces â only if she had actually been introduced to them before. Normally she wouldnât let someone in without knowing them well enough, but she had seen him at the masquerade and knew he was indeed a friend of her sister. Becca was babysitting for Quinn, so it wasnât really a surprise that someone came expecting her instead. She smiled brightly, assuring it was fine. âNo worries! Sheâll be home soon,â Becca informed warmly. âIâm her sister, Becca. Youâre welcome to come in and wait if youâd like? It shouldnât be long; she said she was on her way home.â
âIf youâre sure, thanksâ he didnât want to impose on someone who didnât want him there, but at the same time he did need to speak to Quinn. Or bang his head against the wall, but he wasnât really sure the latter would help much. Talking to someone seemed like the better idea right now. âHarrison Danvers, Iâm a friendâ he replied with a smile. Though he had to hope that name didnât ring any bells for her. If only because he blamed himself for the accident. He should have known better.Â

Mike knew Harrison from his wifeâs stories, and it was old news that the man was back from the dead. âHey, Harrison.â Mike greeted with half a wave of his hand as he found the seat next to him. He was a bit surprised to see Harrison at the bar. It was early in the afternoon, but some sports games were on and despite a few of his high school buddies bailing on him, he figured he would still come watch them. âYou like hockey or just enjoying the day?â He motioned at the television with the nod of his head in its direction as he flagged down the bartender. âJust a beer on tap.â No point in an getting anything too crazy for it just being the afternoon. Michael was no stranger to enjoying a beer and some wings or other food while he watched the game and it looked like he might have company after all. He wasnât sure how he was supposed to feel about Harrison but with so few interactions with him and Quinn didnât bring him up all that often, he left it open to interpretation. Â
So far Harrison had managed to keep it fairly quiet about his own past and what had happened. He knew some people knew about it, and he was under no illusions that Quinn had told her husband. Least what she knew, he had never shared what Louise had done, and he didnât really what other people to know. âThe latter, donât really keep up with any sports, always fell too far behindâ it had been impossible when he was in in the marines, now he just didnât have the energy to. There was too much to catch up on, he didnât see the need to try and catch up with that. âHow about you?â well he didnât want to keep talking if the other man actually was interested in the sport, that might be rude, and he didnât want to insult the man by talking over something that he was actually interested in. This was a sports bar after all.Â
franmellinaâ:
âYouâre not late at all, Harrison,â Fran rushed to assure him. âHi, Uncle Harrison!â Bree said a beat later, causing her to smile. Always so polite and friendly this one, and she just went right to talking. âIâm really good! My teacherâs making us learn basic algebra and I didnât know math used letters but itâs really cool,â Bree said, as they all moved towards the kitchen and it was then that Fran discarded her apron. âMommy told me that you and her were friends in Chicago, and I was always around for those too, even when I was just a baby,â Bree continued and Fran gestured for Harrison to seat. âDid I have any playmates?â Bree asked, causing Fran to inhale sharply. She didnât know how Harrison was feeling, but she was sure it must still sting. No parent could ever rebound from the loss of a child, and it was enough for Fran to reach out and hold both Breeâs and Harrisonâs hands - one a symbol of adoration and protectiveness, the other a show of support.
âAlgebra? Youâll have to teach me one day, I never could get my head around itâ or at least that was the teaching technique his own teachers had used. Get him to explain it back, and it went in. Not his parents, if he even saw his parents, it was once in a blue moon. It had broken his heart at the time, now he was the one keeping them at a distance. But that question... for a moment he froze, before sitting down. It was fair enough, and she was a child, why wouldnât she ask? It just wasnât something he knew how to explain to a child. âWe wereâ he started, even if he wasnât around as much as he now knew he needed to be. âYou did... Dylan, and Liam...â but how did you explain to a child about what had happened? âBut Liam... ran away to Neverlandâ it seemed fitting enough, and he hoped she wasnât about to question it. Even if she knew she probably was too old to believe in fairytales. He didnât want to lie, but this worked better for his own mind.

thalia-montgomeryâ:
âWoah are you alright?â Thaliaâs voice was soft as she looked up from her script at the man who had seemed to catch himself on her table. Her eyes widened for am moment and she she squinted a bit as she looked at her face. She felt a jolt of familiarity and before she could stop herself she reached her hand out lightly to rest on his arm. âwait,â she practically whispered, her mind working overtime to come up with a memory of the past USO trips. âCaptain Danvers?â She couldnât remember if he had been a captain when she met him, he was certainly much younger than but she knew him as Captain since, having looked him up briefly all those years ago. âI..you know sometimes you just never forget a face,â she informed him before whispering an apology as she pulled her hand away. âYou probably donât remember me,â she told him softly and shook her head. âI was wow I was probably in my like..mid 20s when we first met? I donât know, time flies..â she cleared her throat and held out her hand for him to shake. âIâm Thalia.â
Oh he hated that question. Alright was relative, and right now he was far from it. honestly, he wasnât sure if he would ever actually be alright again. Everything had become so complicated. The problem was he didnât like lying, normally he would just omit the truth and not really answer the question. This one if he said anything other than no, then he knew it would be a lie. He had hoped he could blag his way out of there, but too soon she recognised him. That was surprising. âHarrison... pleaseâ he wasnât sure he wanted to hear his title anymore, it caused too many bad memories. Things he would be spending the rest of his life trying to forget. âThink everyone remembers you, we all heard about your career after, congratulationsâ he replied genuinely with a smile. Most he had heard on visits home, though he had fallen a little out of it the last few years. âThink we both were. It was a long time agoâ he replied as he shook her hand. That much time... and yet it had gone so fast.Â

It had been awhile since she saw Harrison, but that didnât change the fact that Fran was still so incredibly elated to know that he had actually been alive all this time, to know that someone who had played a significant role in her life in Chicago was here in Edens, of all places, with her. She had invited him over for dinner with Bree, and she was just finishing up the plating when she heard the doorbell ring. âBree, sweetheart, can you please set the table for us?â Fran asked, pressing a soft kiss on the top of Breeâs head before moving her way to the door. âHey, hey, youâre just in time. Foodâs ready,â Fran said, a large smile forming on her lips as she leaned in to wrap her arms around Harrison gently. âYou look great, Harrison. Come in, come in,â she said, gesturing for him to come inside when she pulled away from the hug and leading the way to the dinner table, discarding the apron she belatedly realized she was still wearing. âYou remember Bree?â
Honestly, a part of him was still worried. He didnât know what Louise had done, how far she had gone, and it was a difficult question to have to ask. Part of him would always blame himself for not seeing the signs something was wrong. He should have realised it was all wrong, all upside down. But instead... he had missed everything. It was a thought that always came to mind, especially around Fran. Maybe because she was a link, and he couldnât help but wonder if she had been in his situation, would she have seen the signs. A dangerous line of thought really, but one he couldnât escape. âHey. Sorry, didnât mean to be lateâ or it felt like it was. The events of the masquerade still on his mind, or they would be if he could remember a little more clearly what had happened. âOf course, how are you princess?â and he really hoped he didnât have to explain to her how he was alive. It was hard enough explaining to adults.Â
