Dialogue under the cut (The dialogue under the cut might have some divergences to the original since I can’t acess the section under the cut of the original post. This dialogue has been pulled straight out of the google docs):
P: Can I just ask you one thing?
L: Yeah, yeah... of course! Anything!
P: Why did you do it? The fake profile, I mean. Why me?
L: You were yourself. You were out, you had friends that loved you the way you were… you were who I wanted to become but didn’t have the courage to be.
P: Lincoln… you could’ve just talked to me, you know that, right?
L: It’s not as easy as you think. If I said it to someone else… if I actually told someone “I’m gay”, then it’s done. I’m not only admitting to someone else… I'm admitting to myself. And I didn’t want to do that ‘because I didn’t want to be that.
P: You can’t change that part of you.
L: I know… but I thought I could.
L: I spent almost my whole high school years trying to hide that part of me. I joined a sports team, started dating Denise. I thought I was set, but it was only a temporary fix. I was still hurting and in the process I was hurting those around me. - His voice cracked and his eyes started to water - I felt so suffocated… I hated myself everyday more and more. Why couldn’t I just be born “normal”.
L: Texting you as Nando… that gave me a bit of hope. Having that connection with someone like me made me realize things could get better. But... when we met after the game you were so angry. You were the only person I felt I was truly myself with and I still was able to hurt you.
P: You were going through so much Lincoln… I'm the one who should-
L: Don’t- don’t apologize. - He interrupted - After that, I realized I couldn't keep doing this. I had to change, so I told my parents.
L: They are coming around it. They still love me, but things are not the same. As for Denise… we don’t really talk anymore. I don’t blame her.
P: I’m so sorry Lincoln… I had no idea.
