Breaking Bad Felina - A true masterpiece
we all saw the trasition of walter white into THE HEISENBERG and the subsequent results of this transition. But I think the felina did a great job in winding up walter's transformation
Walter white being a " meth manufacturer" was only backed with the desire to earn money for his family
But as we move forward we started seeing how this meth cooking is now more than earning money like when Gus shows him the whole lab he was completely mesmerized, he felt good but still he denied. then gus comes with that whole speech " A man provides" which leads to change in walts decison but I think there is an underlying expression -which is walter already wanted to do it he knew he loved it but that speech of gus allowed walter to gaslight himself into thinking that he will be doing this for his family. Then again when this gus thing gets wrapped up in season 4 finale he again starts cooking under the excuse that " he needs to recover his money" why I am bringing this all up because all this lies and manipulation sums up in this one scene
Vince Gillian:" After lying, after rationalising because this guy is a superhero besides from the chemistry ability and the braniac nature of his intellect was really that he could lie to anyone including himself better than anyone alive and he stops lying in that final episode when he finally says I did it for me"
when he realises that jesse has been cooking for jack he decides to avenge jack for hank and everybody and poisons Lydia . But then there is a final face off when walt enters the room he intends to kill everyone with that machine gun but when he sees jeese chained up walter's instict clicks and he jumps on him to save him and as a result he gets hurt
The heisenberg needed his revenge he needed them to be dead which he accomplished but walter white needed his final act to be done towards his family to jesse and I think that's how his actions sums up both.
There are lot more nuances in this gaze which is subject to different interpretations but I think here it was liberation of jesse from walts manipulation, control and walt saving him was final act for jesse, making amends for all the harm he caused. There unresolved ,complicated connection was summed up with this simple nod of acceptance.
Then the lab scene where he dies
When he caresses the equipment he is reminiscing all the times he felt alive. walter had his goodbye with Skyler,holly and he shares his last connection with this non living thing just before he dies
Vince Gillian:He's patting his Precious, inΒ Lord of the RingsΒ terms.Β He's with the thing he seems to love the most in the world, which is his work and his meth lab and he just doesn't care about being caught because he knows he's on the way out. So it could be argued that he pays for his sins at the end or it could just as easily be argued that he gets away with it."
And now here there is no anguish no sadness walts eyes are enough satisfied with dying now. He lived on his terms and died on his on" and there was a line in the script " they were too late , he got away" which sums this all up.
So I think walter's ending is way brilliant and fulfilled.
