when i was fifteen i went to summer camp for two weeks and i was really homesick and i hated it and by the end of the first week i was just so tired of it. i called home and had made up my mind that i had wanted to leave, but my parents, hearing my sobbing, encouraged me to stay that second week.
the first day of the next week came around and the counselors said we were going to embark on a hike. it would go outside of the actual camp grounds they said.
heart island.
it was shaped like a heart. this is now one of my most fond memories. the trail felt out of a strange, foggy dream. i saw trees that looked nothing like trees i’d seen before. it was a fairytale. it was hot. after a long journey we reached a big tree and sat under its shade and ate lunch meat sandwiches and apples. i felt the earth and i felt the beauty and wonder of it all. i’m glad i stayed the second week.
pet sounds makes me get really existential and i don’t like the emotions it brings out of me but i guess that means it’s powerful and good music if it makes me physically feel ill
furthermore, their melodic sensibility is sooo good. simplistic at times, yet winding and playful when it needs to be. matt sharp’s harmonies and weird funny background vocals. i love it so much.
i love weezer so much. i don’t care that they are like the number one loser core band that everyone decided was a joke.
blue album and pinkerton truly mean so much to me and i first heard them at a very developmental stage of my life and they just really hit for me. i feel them so much. they’re so much heavier than people give them credit for. it’s like heavy on the dl. nonchalantly heavy. the lyrics are so introspective and the vulnerability rivers cuomo shows on these two albums always just felt so right to me. i think first hearing weezer as a pre-teen, and now as a young adult, just resonates in a way that only young angsty emotional teenagers will connect with – making me the very target for it. it’s so special to me. i don’t care if people call them a joke. whatever

bitknot - feeble little horse: a review
feeble little horse specializes in cutesy diy that doesn’t take itself too seriously – but this doesn’t mean it’s insincere – every moment feels personal as lead singer lydia slocum’s soft, sweet vocals lead the listener into her personal world. bitknot expands upon the twee rock of their previous releases, incorporating a fresh electronic sound that feels like stepping into the field on the old windows desktop wallpaper. feeble little horse’s third record is their glitchiest, heaviest-hitting, and catchiest one yet.
the rhythmic and repetitive vocals on tracks such as “upside down” and “shopping” act as mantras, almost reminiscent of a nursery rhyme.
“shady” addresses the feelings of guilt around being friends with someone another friend dislikes. the depth created through simplistic lyrics in this song contributes to the confessional vulnerability presented throughout the album.
“dior” stands out as the most pop-song hooky, accessible track. sitting right around the middle of the album it is the fuzzy center-piece that encompasses all of what feeble little horse does best.
the penultimate song “shopping” explores a common theme of jealousy amongst the modern teenage/young adult girl. “she’s in my feed i need her clothes i need her hair / she’s just like me but prettier it’s not fair” “and would you fuck with these shoes i wanna look just like you”
the last song “DMT” is loud, aggressive, and poignant with anthemic screamed vocals, ending with a high-pitched ringing that feels like the tone left in your ears after a heavy rock concert.
