🏆As military members, or as part of a world that gets smaller and smaller, you may move from gym to gym as your life or career moves. People always ask me about gyms they are visiting on trial, or send me links to places they are thinking about visiting. I look at the websites and the FB pages, ask a few friends some questions, and then get back to you with what I think. Ultimately though, you have to know that all gyms are different, and teachers are at different levels of doing and teaching martial arts (which are two different skillsets), BUT it is the atmosphere of the gym, being a right fit for both you and the teacher, that ultimately causes you to grow. We have met with great success here, not because of me, but because of the teacher/student chemistry I develop with students, i.e. they love me enough to listen to what I coach and advise. (and if they can't I swiftly advise them or their parents to go to a different gym where they have chemisty and can learn. Mosr coaches just try to keep everyone, because they want more money😒). REMEMBER, no matter the star quality or averageness of a teacher, what sets most programs apart is how they are organized and the philosphies behind what they do what they do. Soooo, without further adieu, here are a few questions you can ask during your orientation or trial, because it SHOULD NOT be one-sided, but it should be an interview. As you know, the best interviews are the ones where both sides ask a ton of questions in an effort to see if they are the best fit for each other. If you have any questions about a particular question, "Sensei, why would you ask such and such." Just let me know.
