seeing a hate campaign against my country unfold before my eyes, one that is so massive even some celebrities are endorsing it, is so insane i can't believe it's a reality. americans calling us the "israel of latam" while their government basically funds israel, calling us racist even though only 60 years ago they had separate bathrooms for white people and poc (we've never had ANYTHING of that kind), ignoring real life stories shared by black people who've lived here and claim to have never faced any discrimination by us. our latin brothers and sisters turning against us to support their own colonizers bc by their brainrotted logic, we're worse..? americans saying we're self centered, when they call the united states by the name of a whole continent. it all just goes to show how susceptible to propaganda most people are, it's been sickening to read some of the things that people who've never even been here (and never read a book about our history, just watched a few tiktoks and decided to hop on the hate train) have to say about my country. it's obviously fine to dislike our national football team but this is deeper than that, and i'm scared of the consequences it'll have for us argentinians in the future. we welcome foreigners who come study in our free universities and use our free healthcare with open arms, always. we're one of the most progressive latam countries, people would know that if they actually researched before spreading lies. despite the loss, thousands of people went out to celebrate how far we made it in the world cup and received our team with so much love you wouldn't think we're second place. we're passionate and loud and europeans/americans hate the pride we take in our flag. they're allowed to be proud of their nationality, but when we are, we're arrogant. latin americans can't be proud of where they're from, that's the message the internet is selling and that absolutely everyone's buying, and i'm assuming it'll only get worse from here. but if i had the chance, i'd choose to be argentinian a million times over, i'll ALWAYS choose our celebration, passion, humor, our community and the colors of our beautiful flag
