I love art but every time I see those people on TikTok who go buy perfectly intact china like teacups and sometimes even whole tea sets and breaking them to use the glass to turn them into a modern art piece or a bird feeder or something similar it makes me so mad because it’s so easy to find broken porcelain and so many of them are decades old only to be destroyed for a contemporary fad

Like as someone who collects bone china when I can I almost cried when I saw a lady completely shatter a bowl easily worth $100 because she tried to drill a hole in the middle of it to turn it into a bird feeder

Adversely if you’re someone who looks specifically for already broken porcelain or any kind of china that’s been destroyed and lost it’s value and you take it and repurpose it into a new kind of art so that it has beauty and value that can be appreciated by new people you are my favorite people, I think it’s beautiful giving art new value when it’s been broken, but breaking something still beautiful that someone probably loved and designed to be beautiful already just makes me sad, that bowl was at least a hundred years old and the person who designed it’s creative style and vision can still be seen after the artist is gone, even a century after they stopped making them and their art is still alive and I think that’s amazing

i have spent my afternoon confusedly getting dressed, driving to the store, purchasing a new seed block, driving home, washing the cage, and getting the feeder set back up. i don’t take this much care for my Own nutrition. ive been bullied into a grocery store run by a tufted titmouse. i feel so loved
