Angelic Maiden

“Look at this! It’s so cute!”

There was some kind of hair accessory put on the glass display, something soft colored and immediately, Colette nearly pressed her face against the barrier.

“Presea, this would look nice on you...”

A glimpse between her friend and the decorative hair band, like she was mentally comparing and contrasting between her already adorable taste in ribbons. 

The heart is a cavity filled with many things. Grief, joy, sorrow, rage... and misery that could spawn centuries. They were the biproducts of similar emotions. Strewn to the surface until it numbed. Until the burden became too great to bear. And sometimes, it felt like Martel’s own feelings could still fizzle at the surface of her mind.

And she often thought of them sometimes. 

“I don’t want to keep lying to you.”

When did she first start again? A white lie. An innocent one she could probably still remember if she thought hard enough. Something like an “I’m fine” back before the words were cemented in her throat.

“Can I tell you something? I once set off on a journey. One where I left without you. And you know what I thought back then, even when I lied to you?”

It was something she always felt deeply inside of her.

“I wanted to see your smiling face. Just one more time.”

Her eyes were heavy with some unbroken layer of moisture.

It was dusk.

Colette stumbled under the contents of grocery bags. Her feet prone to catching the uneven bits in the road, and leaning her physically a bit too forward with each step. Her heart was light however, a soft humming melody like a hymn she memorized as a child.

Blue eyes caught a certain swordsman, and her smile grew as bright as the sun.

“Kratos!” 

A head of cabbage nearly slipped her grip, as she twisted her arms to keep it steady. The paper bag crinkled pleasantly in return. She didn’t drop anything yet. Thank Martel.
