You guys know how the Darkrai allegedly goes unnoticed during the climax of base game PLZA (likewise.) and like, the fact it was there at all is what stirs the pot for Mega Dimension? Imagine a version of that story where Urbain/Taunie HAD seen the distressed Darkrai. What do you think would have happened then? Sure it could have just floated away, but clearly it COULDN’T if Mega Dimension was going to happen.
Imagine a version where they only see it last second. They’re presumed to have made a sacrifice or died at the tower, body never recovered but Floette was. Truth is they were taken with Darkrai to the Hyperspace Newmoon Nightmare, trying to find a way to save it on their own. Like. Imagine they just had to watch this thing deteriorate because in the position they were in, there was literally NOTHING, for whatever reason, that they could do to stop it. Not on their own. Team MZ is a team. Maybe you won the declaring fight and you were crowned the strongest Mega Evolution user and they hope you get there because of that. Or maybe you lost that fight, and they were crowned the title instead, and are now feeling the guilt of letting everyone down because they can’t find a way to subdue the overriding mega energy of the pitch black victim of what could have very well been their own undoing, seeing as Floette lost control.
And what of the Darkrai? Consciously aware of its fate, and yet this innocent person left to watch? Is it too scared of Urbain/Taunie in fear of them, or fear of what they’ll see? Does it cling to them in moments of distress? Does it hide away in its own agony? Does it blame them? Does it talk to them? Does it DARE talk to them…?
The dreamscape pictures of AZ. What does Darkrai mean by making these phantasms of a dead man come to life? …Do they even know that he’s dead? Do these even occur? If so, what does he say differently? Remind Urbain/Taunie that not all hope is lost?
How… for lack of a better term, alive, is Hyperspace? Can Urbain/Taunie live like their life is at a standstill with no changing feelings? Or do they experience hunger, and what if they have to fend for themselves? Does Darkrai aid, or challenge? What can they even feed off of? And… are there ever moments where the Darkrai feels like… an option to feed off of?
Assuming the two of them can communicate verbally, implied by Mega Dimension to an extent, is there room for conversation?
You have these dreams too… the ones that cry out from Darkrai. Do you hear… another voice? Calling your name? Is that face in the darkness one you recognize? Or are you too afraid to ask its name, fearing the worst… judging you even have the words to speak in the nightmare.
That person… the one that above all else, took you in. Made some questionable at best decisions. You may have resonated with them. Or maybe you hated them. Do you still have room in your heart to hold hope for what was assumed lost, or might you only be inclined to spare a pathetic soul “for the sake of Lumiose”.
