Hey guys! Since I got into Cambridge, I have openly offered to help people apply or give them advice about applying.

My school told me not to apply. They told me not to apply for Computer Science, and they told me not to apply to my college. 

They also tried to make me write a personal statement that read like a resume/CV in essay form: Incredibly boring! I wrote a personal statement I was proud of, that was honest and that was interesting.

I’ll maybe make a post later, but really I’m best at giving advice personally. I didn’t have great GCSEs, and the personal statement is all about getting to interview, so I can hopefully offer real advice. Feel free to PM me (and do it again if I don’t respond, because I have a bad memory)

My biggest advice:

The only valid reason to not apply to Oxbridge is if you wouldn’t go even if you got in.

Thinking you won't get in is throwing away any chance you might. Rejection is either neutral, or a chance to grow.

I understand some people don’t want to go to Oxbridge. That is totally valid.

I passed first year! I was really worried, and I was told early. I get my ranking and paper breakdown tomorrow, but I know my class.

I will be done with physics forever (!) in less than twenty-four hours - feels very strange to be dropping a subject I’ve studied for so long.

This little area of the college library is just two desks, surrounded by four walls of book cases. It’s my favourite place to study in the whole university (of where I have so far explored)

I’ve honestly neglected my physics paper this year, as it’s not essential to my (computer science) degree, and I haven’t had the energy to do all the work I wanted to do.

If I add the “read more” object on desktop, I can’t then edit the post on mobile, so I’m stuck with long posts or side-by-side photos.
